I was asked in the Week 9 thread about placing a wager on my Steelers. I do not wager on games.

I consider Gard to be a good friend of mine, so I enjoy the banter we exchange about sports. I love and admire his enthusiasm for the Saints. It is also very cool that the Saints have finally given him something to brag about in the NFL. The Steelers and Saints seldom play each other, so this week has been great!!!

The easy half of the Saints schedule is over, now they have a real schedule. Let's see their win-loss record for the second half of the season.

Speaking of "let's see their win-loss record for the second half of the season", well, let's see the Turkeys' win-loss for the same time, hmm?

Personally, based on what I've seen, I'll take the Saints.

Mike, I'd do a good-natured "sig bet" anytime on the game with you, but I also respect your feelings on the situation - I'd NEVER bet money on a game, I just love the GAME.

Anyone that takes me seriously about this stuff, by the way, is missing the point, I'm just having some fun and talkin' some smack.

Like I said in the last NFL thread, I accept any and all Colts related bets. I will also provide all the noise-talking you could ever want to support my case.

Drew Brees is playing like a man possessed... but the Steelers front 7 is still able to bring the heat... it should be a good game.

Interestingly, The Steelers did a good job of shutting down struggling QBs like Culpepper, Walters and Leftwich. But when they faced decent QBs like Vick, Palmer and Plummer they got lit up. They got torched by Javon Walker and Marques Colston is bigger, stronger and faster. It will be a good matchup.

Something tells me PIT will bring their A game, and the Saints historically haven't been a good road team. This will be a test of the Saints legitimacy and the Steelers resolve. Should be fun to watch.

Here on display folks we have a "true" Saints fan. Let's just say the Saints win a couple playoff games, and maybe the SB. You can bet your bottom dollar it will be ALL serious then. Until that happens, they kind of dance around and act like they aren't serious. That way when they lose, they'll pull the "it's only a game, I wasn't serious anyway" lines. The Saints will eventually come off the cloud they are on, and as soon as it happens, we'll also hear the "I knew it wasn't going to last, they were playing on emotion. That only takes you so far".

If the Saints were 2-6 like my Steelers, you would not hear a peep from the likes of Gard. He would suddenly be ultra-busy with back orders at Roscoe and family life.

Will be a good game. Grossman has to prove he can win on the road against a good D. The gints are a little banged up, so we may see a different D than what the last few weeks showed. Armstead is hurt, Arrington is out, Toomer is out, etc... On the flipside we'll have to see how limited Lach will be.

The Bears are really missing Mike Brown. Ronnie Brown's performance last week showed that the Bears safeties need some work. Both Harris and Manning were out of position a lot. If Brown were there, the RB would never make it past the secondary. Tiki Barber is going to be a challenge for the Bears, but I think the Bears can limit the Gints passing game with solid pressure and good coverage. Especially if Plax is hurt and can't play the game.

Bears O-line needs to step it up this game. They are giving up too many sacks, and not opening holes for the running game. They need to step it up and give the offense some confidence. Rex has to secure the ball. Goes without saying......

I think the Bears can pull this one out, and possibly by a wide margin.

As for historically, I don't really know, but THIS SEASON, the Saints are equally 3-1 at home and on the road.

This ain't the old Saints.

Oh, and the naysayers that keep pounding the "they haven't beat anyone" drum:

Philly was 4-1 when they played the Saints, they left New Orleans 4-2.

Atlanta was 2-0 when the Saints beat them like a bass drum in a disco tune.

...please, everyone, keep underestimating them.

Oh, you don't get me at all, I'm not a fairweather fan, I, like you and the Steelers, am a FAN. I'd be talkin' smack just the same, unless they totally tanked like they did last season, which was dismal for more serious reasons than football for us Nawlins folk.

If you think the Saints record is just emotion, you're mistaken. I hope your Steelers are making a similar one as they prepare for a visit from the Big Easy.

And I'm already "ultra-busy" with back orders at Roscoe, and my family life is unbelieveably hectic.

I know they are banged up on D, but Plaxiglass, Schlockey, and
the retiree still can bring it.
I'm really anxious for this game. I wish it was still an early

Take it easy Tiger. I'm just teasing with you. When I think of your name here at TB, I think New Orleans Saints and then Bass Central. I know you are the definition of a true fan. I'd put our buddy jive on that list too.

I threw the emotion part in there to add to what I thought was a funny post. The Saints are a good team, and they are playing well....eight games in to the season.

I was just trying to do some instigating I know it's all good natured... sorry I missed out on the Week 9 smacktalk, I was moving cross country.

But yeah, should be a good game... the Giants-Bears game should be good, too. And traditionally the Packers-Vikings games are close...

Well it is the Windy City for a reason... all that hot air.

I tell you what, if there ever was a week that I would have loved watching the games at my bar in Chicago it was last week... usually, there's a decent sized contigent of Bears fans that me and my friends sit next to (our group is me a Packers fan, a Saints fan, a Bills fan, a Bears fan, and a Browns fan -- lot of heartbreak in that group). And, boy, I would have liked to see the wind taken out of their sails a bit

Green Bay? they would be good if their stars did not need a walker to get around the field.
Minnesota? well 9ers beat Minnesota, and 9ers suck! Arizona? Lions?

My prediction for bears:
They will loose next 3 games, then they will beat the Minnesota but then loose 3 in a raw just to come back and beat Green Bay. That is if Green Bay shows up at all! There might be a game of bingo going on near by and we all know how much old people like bingo. In that case Green Bay might be forced to go and find themselves some homeless guy to be their QB and then they might have a chance against the bears. The only problem with that scenario is if Favre finds out that there is a homeless kid on his grass and kills him. Because we all know how much those old people hate when there are kids on their lawn.

I cant say squat. They beat my Bucs in the first outting. But then again, who hasnt beaten the Bucs this year. I am so dissapointed in the defense that I could puke. I wont even comment on how much of an abomination the running game is. The only perk in my opinion is Bruce Gradowsky (sp) I think he has a lot of promise and for a rookie that was more or less thrown to the wolves is doing a decent job.
