NFL Week 15

When I was in NOLA last June, I made a trip to Kiln just to see where Favre is from. Check out my adventure.....
Bret was at work, but his wife let me take a picture of their house.
And here is me to prove I was there.

Hey, if Favre was a nobody QB (like most current NFL QB's), nobody would even care enough to poke fun.
But since he is one of the best ever and a sure HOF lock and one of the few faces of the NFL...well everyone has something to say about him.
I'll take that stuff posted about him any day. I'd rather read that than us having one of the many faceless unknowns so many other teams have.

Fav-ray a HOF QB, absolutely. A true talent, certainly.
A good person, nope, and I speak from DIRECT personal experience.

I've shared the entire story elsewhere, here's the "condensed" version:
I grew up in Slidell, LA, which is about 15 minutes from Kiln, MS. There's NOTHING in Kiln, as Mike will confirm, so the denizens of that nether region "hang" in the "big city" of Slidell for their fun. Brett being one of them, was known to us.
He harassed the female companion of a large gentleman in a second story bar, and got tossed down a flight of stairs for his trouble. His "bodyguard" commented, and I quote:
"I've wanted to do that for weeks."
He, and his family, are not well-liked in Slidell (the Slidell Police know them well, his sister has spent "quality time" with them, Brett has had to bail her out.).
Kinda the way people that have met Jim McMahon feel .
Although he was a great Bear, lot's of people that have met think he's a jerk.

Hey, even though I'm a HUGE Bear fan, I thought he was a jerk, and a mediocre QB at best. Take a look and see, Kramer had better stats than he did! I think Chicago fans were exited that he was not Vince Evans!
And exactly when was this, that it happened? If you recall, Brett was quite the party animal when he was younger, and Atlanta wanted to get rid of him because he was an alcoholic. Add the vicoden problem and yes, I'll bet he was a jerk.
He has since cleaned up his act, he's sober and more a family man now. I have to friends in Biloxi/Gulfport (that live there NOW) that also know him quite well and your personal experience doesn't jive with their experiences with him. But they met him after he won the Super bowl AND cleaned up his act.

Geez, ask anyone who knows me now (married with kids), and those who knew me when I was younger (a total party animal that got drunk a lot) and ask them what kind of guy they think I am. You'll come away thinking of two completely different people.
I thought he played his @$$ off when "played", and right now he's the only Bears QB with a Super Bowl ring.
Even though he was a jerk it was happened on the field that i cared about . I never met him so i can't say , but A LOT of people do say he was, especially the media guys.

Yes, I can confirm. As empty as the place was, it had this really cool down home feel to it as we drive around. We stopped and talked to some of the locals, but I think they all knew I was some Yankee looking for Bret's house.
This place did seem to be the happening joint in town. Watch a movie and get a sun tan?

Yeah, but McMahon played with more attitude than ability!!! He was truley a PR child. The whole anti-establishment/'Punky QB'/mohawk/scooter riding during practice bit worked out well for the fans during the early eighties. It really didn't bode too well in Minn. or GB! I really didn't dig the super "tough as a lineman" act at all, seeing as he was one of the most frail, heavily armored QB's of his day! If you remember, he was the first to wear that super bulky flack vest.
Hell, with that O line that he had, Peyton proved that he could throw a better TD pass to McMahon than vice versa....

Is someone even arguing that Eric Kramer was a better QB than Jim McMahon? :scowl: Stats are helpful, but they don't tell the whole story, ferchrissakes, this isn't baseball!!!
I started watching football right after the Bears SB when McMahon was more or less still in his prime (despite all the injuries) he was a classic field general... I was young at the time, but it certainly made an impression. The injuries took a quick toll on him though, but he was a good backup QB because he really knows a bunch about the game... I mean, he's not Hall of Fame, but was a good player with a rocky career (but one that got him a couple SB rings).

Even though McMahon was made of bone china, he was a good field general. His ability to read defenses and call audibles at the line of scrimmage made that offense.
Kramer had better WRs in Conway and Graham, while McMahon had slippery hands Gault and McKinnon who decent, but not exceptional. Ron Turner ran a version of the WCO that was more pass oriented than what Ditka and Hughes were running.
