NFL Week 17

That SUCKS!

In addition to Javon Walker, D.J. Williams and Brandon Marshall were with Darrent Williams when he was killed.
PFT reports there was initially concern that Walker was also shot, but the blood on his clothes was from Darrent. Police reportedly already have good leads on the suspects and arrests are expected to be made shortly.

Unreal.

Sad day for us Broncomaniacs. It's bad enough that the season is over, but this is just awful: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Indeed. When I went to the Monday night game against Baltimore in Denver, I had a chance to meet Darrent earlier in the day. He seemed like a nice guy.

I sure hope this was random, and not linked to any suspicious activity he was/has been involved in.

i know it really hurts to have only this 1 win to make your season dogue so enjoy it.
And we don't need ya to watch our playoff run, cuz you'll be hearing plenty about it .

Losing Harris meh, everyone has injuries and we ain;t crying
about it.
And i'm kinda glad grossman blew it. hopefully they'll go to the veteran that can read defenses better. I said before and i'll say it again i prefer Griese

:D

No, actually the whole season made my season. I had low expectations going in this year, what with all the inexperienced players and new coaching staff.

To be in the hunt right up until the last weekend made for a much better year than I thought we'd have.

I don't know what QB on the Bears can read defenses better (unless you are referring to your punter...well, then yeah I agree).

We will soon find out what kind of QB futility the Bears have been going through, if Favre retires.

Dude.....s-l-o-w your roll. Please explain to me how Rex Grossman allowed the Packers to score 26 points in that loss, or why it was his fault that the Dolphins put up 31 on that loss? Come on......

But hey, I know Grossman is no super stud QB don't get me wrong about that. Calling for Brian Griese is nuts.

What will Griese do that Grossman is not?

Grossman is still basically a rookie and has played like it.
He was out palyed in the pre-season and keeps taking 1 step forward and 2 back. I don't know if watched the games that griese has played in , but he can feel the pressure and knows when to step in the pocket or rollout. Thats a veteran QB. Granted he had 2 ints last night but what do expect whne you come in 23 down EVERYONE knows he's gonna pass.

This was just another rerun for grossman, i've seen enough!
I don't care what the coaches say, i know what i've been watching and it sucks.

Also it's time for this defense to stop sleepwalking already.
Rivera needs to come up with a scheme that does not give an opposing QB the whole middle of the field, that was ridiculous.

I know the talent is there and they know it too.
So i say lets get it rolling Bears.

You're a hater!

All I can say at this point is you better hope Griese stays on the bench. He hasn't won squat in the NFL, never has. Why do you think he is settling for a backup position?

I'll go ahead and debate you on this one. First off, Griese's stats amount to about one game worth this season. In that one virtual game, he was sacked three times. So much for that elusive pocket awareness.

What would I expect from a veteran QB who comes in when a team is down 23? Not to throw TWO more picks and blow any chance of winning. A good veteran QB is one who will come in and mop up, hold a lead, or at least not blow any chance of winning.

EDIT: Griese has won squat. His first season in Denver was a good one. My bad.

I just heard on Sportscenter that he was not directly involved in the altercation that lead to the shooting.

The worst part of the whole thing is that he leaves behind two young children.

Absolutley awful.

Excellent. I haven't been to ESPN.com, or watched Sportscenter lately to get the latest. Thank you.

He sure did not seem that type when I met him. I knew about the kids, which is oh so sad for sure.

First of all, I could care less about the playoffs right now. Darrent Williams was one of the most feared cornerbacks in the league, and an all around good guy. He had a rough childhood but made up for as he grew up. I met him at the preseason game against the lions, one of the nicest celebs i've been around. This really hurts though. I didn't know him so I can't say I understand what his friends and family are going through, but I was a fan, a big one. Those of you who are huge fans of your team can relate here; When your team is doing good , you are doing good and same with bad. Right now, my Broncos are hurting and I'm feeling it.
RIP Darrent Williams, you will be missed.

Now to the games: Congrats to the Steelers for putting the Bungles on the couch. Congrats to the Lions for winning and maybe making Randy Moss relevant next year. The Eagles are going to do well in the Playoffs, it would be good to see Jeff Garcia get a ring.

As for the Bronco game........well you can't win em all can you?:D
The 49ers are going to be good next year, but don't worry, so are the Broncos, we are like wolverine:our wounds heal fast and we come back with a taste for blood.
Kserg, post my punishment so I can add it to my sig.
BTW, some refs need to be fired or yelled at , or something....

As for the Playoffs: Page is going for Baltimore and ....(gulp) Indy(yeah , I said it:spit: ) for AFC.
For NFC, Page picks the Eagles.(As long as the friggin lame ass Gints don't win)

Oh yeah and I hate USC.

I'm hater of Grossmans play.
You know to me it seems you want Grossaman in there just to see him blowup. I know what i say means nothing in the grand scheme of things but i have seen enough football to know that he's not gonna get it done.
The Bears are 13-3 despite Grossman. The Bears have a good ground game and coaches need to establish the running game first so they can play action off of it.

More like the best three-four. Harris and Woodson were the best tandem in the NFL and both should have been Pro Bowl bound. Even other top notch recievers around the league recognize that.

Perhaps I should of said cornerback tandem? Maybe I was clear, but I wasn't trying to say that Bailey and Williams were the best and second best CBs in the league.

I hadn't realized that they were that good, but looking at the games were they played top notch receivers tandems (about 5 this year) the only one they didn't shut down was Lavernius Coles. They did shutdown Jerrico Cotchery though.

Philly > NY This will be the best game of the week. Divisional rivals with plenty of fight left. I only picked Philly because they have momentum and five game winning streak.
NJ > NE It's been obviously all year that letting all their talent leave for other teams has hurt NE. It'll bite them this weekend.
Dallas > Seattle with their recently absent defense showing up for the game. Survey says this will be low scoring
Indy > Chiefs causing Larry Johnson to run his mouth about a the coaching staff again. This will be a high scoring affair.

Guilty.

I eat my shorts. Pisspoor game.

But hey, what the heck. Favre is staying home next
weekend.

One thing I love is that while Bear's fans are all saying the last game meant nothing, and the Packers are going to be staying home, we kicked your starter's butts, and you know deep down that you guys really have nothing to look forward to but a quick exit in the playoffs.

Come SB time, both our teams will be watching the game on TV...and both possibly looking for another QB. At least we had a QB, and lots of division crowns and playoffs for the last 16 years. It was fun while it lasted.

How long is the Bear's run going to last...and who will they bring in next year at QB? :D
