NFL Week #2

no, I didn't watch the Saints...I misplaced my paper bag :hiding:

...who needs a paper bag now?

;)

it was a lucky fumble recovery huh ? and only an 87 yard return :scowl:

...hmm...the Saints only hung 42 on that team that was 0-16 last season. They went into the Eagles HOUSE and hung 48 on 'em, oh and the defense held them to 5 points LESS.

:smug:

wait for them to come to the Linc

Yeah. How'd that work out for you?

:D

....in memory of Jim Johnson

All due respect to Jim Johnson, he was a great (HOF) DC, and more importantly a great person from everything I've heard.

Sean McDermott is NO Jim Johnson, it appears that all you have of Jim Johnson after today is indeed his memory.

;)

I was more worried about the Pats defense than offense. Looks like I'll have to rethink that. I guess it takes more than 2 weeks to get the timing back.

Gard - good call on the spread - 7 points it was.

Eh, I appear to have had a pretty off week this time, I mean I really blew the spread in the Saints-Eagles game, didn't I?

:smug:

:D

(...I said Saints 38 Eagles 24, spread of 14; it was Saints 48 Eagles 22, spread of 26....that's pretty bad, I was almost 2X off on that one....hee hee hee hee!!!!)

Ouch. :hmm:

Man, two missed FG's in the 4th Qtr? :scowl:

No excuse for that loss, IMO...your boys laid an egg in the flying saucer. Color me as unhappy as both yourself and MJ on this, I was both expecting and pulling for a Steelers win here.

...now we'll have to put up with Jive being all smug.

:rollno:
Yeah, they blew it. Oh well.

Your boys looked great today. I didn't see the game but saw some highlights. Congrats!

Yeah, winning 'em all is overrated, the most important game to win is the LAST GAME OF THE SEASON.

Steelers did that last year, until the next last game, they're still the Champs. They'll bounce back.

And yeah, we put a full game together today in Philly. It was a thing of joy to watch. Made even more so by being outnumbered 10 to 3 by Iggles fans at my local hang for the game. :D

Darren Sharper getting the pick 6 at the end was just salt in an open wound. :smug:

Not that Gard needs any help proping up the Saints, but I did say I'd post Brees' numbers each week and take my lumps if he stunk the joint up.

Brees vs Detroit, week 1: 26/34, 358yds 6TDs 1 Int. Theres a heckuva benchmark. Ok. Lotta snarky remarks about the division 2 level of play by the Lions. But this is the NFl, not the CFl, AFL or the local semipro league.

Week 2 Brees vs the Eagles D:

25/34, 311yds 3TDs 0Ints...

And as a control in my lil non scientific experiment...

This week Farve vs Detroit:

23/27, 155yds 2 TDs. Great completion percentage but pretty pedestrian numbers otherwise. I'd guess Farve'll get more highlight reel moments as the season goes...

For the second week in a row the Saints ran for 100+ yds, 133to be exact. Against a good Eagles D. Ask the Panthers.
The Saints D held the Eagles to 85yds rushing and had 4 turnovers. Kolb threw for a lot of yards but couldn't make it pay off. Darren Sharper kept that from happening.

With the balance on offense and the emergence of a good D, these Saints may be the real thing. but I am a long time Saints fan so...;)

That was a very impressive aints victory. To think how impressive it would've been if not for a lucky 71 yard TD reception by Jackson and that lucky Avant TD. Also, Philly got lucky on that Moleman interception. We all here understand, obviously, that Moleman is the greatest QB to have ever played the game, and if he was intercepted it was because their was a shift in the time/space continuum or the earth shook for a moment causing it or well .. something. The score should've been aints 625 to iggles -135.

The aints really are playing great. But TARD is what's really fun. He's like the Chicago Superfans on steriods, amplified to 11!
