NFL Week 3 Thread

Sad thing when you consider all the people from the Chi-Town area on TB, the only ones who ever say anything about the Bears in these football threads is someone from Colorado and Virginia.

On the flip side, Bears are back at the top of the Norris. :hyper:

Packer Backers, get out your crying towels because your house of cheese is crumbling. Yup, Brets deal with the devil is now expired. He needs to pay up, or else face further tragedy. Maybe Bret's dad Satan might have some compassion on the fruit of his loins and pull out something at the end. But now, Cheese nation is in despair and I'm loving it.

The media darlings the queens look like crap. Tough D.. Puhleese. Ask Dan Snyder about the effectiveness of building a team via the checkbook. By looking at C-Pep, you'd think he graced the cover of Madden 2006. When you rely on hucking the ball and having the league's top receiver snatch it on a jump ball it's bound to catch up to you. Moss made Jeff George and an elderly Randall Cunningham look good. Queens blow, and I'm not talking about the stupid ram's horn either.

The kitties, the sleepers of the season, looked pathetic last week. Where's this high power offense? No more excuses for pal Joey. Me thinks the best thing for Detroit fans to do is watch reruns of their home opener from last year on Sundays. Maybe they get their act together during the bye week. Yeah, right...
Yo, Kitties fans, are you guys missing Fontes yet? Betcha you never thought that would happen.

Bears a surprise? Sure SI and everyone picks us to be last, even though we still had a great D without Urlacher for half the season, and Mike Brown for almost the whole season. Dr Z can just kiss my @$$. Same for you Mariotti. Defense wins ball games, and Bears will surprise. They will not be a 3-13 team like others are predicting. Right now no-one is dominant in the Norris, and really it's anybody's for the taking.

Favre probably will talk to Uncle Beelzebub for a favor, and might get himself a playoff spot for him to choke in (again). Mike Tice is the biggest idiot out there, and I hope the Queens sign him to a 20 year extension. :D The Lions don't seem to have an identity crisis like the other teams. Nope, they're continuing the great Lion tradition. Bears winning the division isn't out of the question, and that's what I'm rooting for.

Hey I live near Chicago and I can guarantee that I will be saying something about the "Beloved".

Like you said the division is up for grabs. I know it is early but this (Superfan voice on)"could be the year my friends"!!!(Superfan voice off)

A question for the Bears fans...

Would you rather have a healthy Rex Grossman or Kyle Orton at QB?

Well figuring our past QBs consisted of:
Jonathon Quinn (worst QB ever!!!!)
Graig Krenzel
Chad Hutchinson
Kordell Stewart
Chris Chandler
Jim Miller
Cade McNown
Shane Matthews
Henry Burris
Moses Moreno
Steve Walsh
Peter Tom Willis
Rick Mirer
Steve Stenstrom

I'd take either. But at this point I'd take Orton just so he can get some snaps and develop. I like Wrecked Glassman, but playing 5 games in three seasons isn't what you want from a first round pick, let alone a "franchise QB".

Amen. There's only one reason people trash America's team and Favre...pure unadulterated jealousy. It's easier to trash talk than look at 14 of 15 winning seasons, 50,000+ passing yards and countless other passing records. And which team has the best winning percentage over the past 3 season? New England? Philly? No, the Pack. In two miserable outings, Favre still exceeds your pathetic Bears QB. In fact, he's the highest rated NFC north QB thusfar. Talk your trash about Favre, then prove to me how he's "lost it". But you won't be able to. OK, I feel better now. Through 2 games:

Yds Att Comp TD INT Long Rating
Favre: 543 88 59 3 4 42 76.1
Orton: 291 49 29 1 1 28 74.4

Favre in his 15th season, plays with more passion, love for the game, and enthusiasm than guys just a shade more than 1/2 his age. Once again, he's on pace for a 4000+ yard season. Favre is the face of the NFL.

I'm looking forward to another win this Sunday against the Patriots. The Steelers can beat them up all the time, except in the playoffs when it matters. :(

The Seahawks will sit on another first half lead and ride it to a win against the Cardinals. Poor Kurt Warner is going to get killed behind that awful offensive line.

I know you and Mr Packerbacker are old enough to remember two decades of futility, and fortunately for you the internet wasn't invented for you to publicly proclaim that "this year is the year". Luckily for FIBS like me, we got just enough reception to laugh at Milwaukee radio stations. "Aye der, da Packers are gonna win da nort, ya?"

Just to jog your memories:
Remember Bart Starr, not when he was a QB. Remember what a great coach he was?
How about the great Forrest Gregg or the genius known as Lindy Infante?
Or that prolific passer, Randy Wright or the dominant running game led by Michael Haddix and Brent Fullwood.

When Lucifer calls his offspring Favre back to the depths of Hades where he belongs, the Norris will be back to where it should be. Packers in the cellar.

Wow. Neither of us proclaimed any such thing. I think we'd all realize the division is up for grabs and that this is probably a down year for the Pack. Just don't understand the Favre bashing.

As a player, I can't bash him in the least. One of the all time greats, no question.

However, I do know of him and his family personally. He's a jerk. His family too. I know the media portray him as a wonderful guy, but that's all smoke & mirrors and throwing money at people.

That said, I hope he and his family are all OK after the Katrina situation. Just 'cuz I don't like the guy doesn't mean I wish him ill.

Oh, and yeah, the Packers, they're done, stick a fork in 'em. It's time to rebuild.

;)

It is pure unadulterated jealousy.

Did you see the list that Jive1 gave for all the Bears quarterbacks they have had the last couple of years. It is really pathetic. And you look up north and see the same guy year in and out. I know the season is young and things can change like that but I am enjoying this and hope the Bears can continue proving the experts wrong. That was one of the most dominant wins of the weekend and nationally the Bears got no pub. Heck the Fox post game guys were speechless. All they could talk about was how bad the Lions played. I think it is about time for some consistent success. And until they do it they will be the doormat of the NFC North even though they are leading it at this moment.

If we're picking apart teams based on individual players remember that the Bears have 19 players enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, more than any other franchise.

Yes, the current Bears are a shadow of their former selves and Papa Bear Halas is probably rolling over in his grave but the Bears are one of if not the most storied franchise in NFL history. They will rise again. :D

Speaking of rivalry Da Boys lost last night to the Skins in a heartbreaker. The last four minutes unravelled. They owned the Redskins for 56 minutes.... but that's why you play 60.

Anyway, I pity San Francisco. The Cowboys are going to be in a very nasty mood indeed. Order up some body bags.
