Yeah, I'm not gonna call a winner on this one. Troy remains out, and Pittsburgh has yet to pull it all togther. The lack of the running game (and the kicking game, Jeff?) has me concerned early in the year. Cincy is a physical team and I fear they are gonna come out smelling blood...I wouldnt be so sure... Bengals D is playing better than they have in years. I think it will be a good game although the Steelers are still stronger all around. You know what happens when these two get together though
Technically, they DID lose two in a row. If it wasn't for a ridiculous mental error by the Bills, that game was over, and NE would be 0-2.

I made a similar mistake myself in another NFL thread already this year, and I'm only 38. I wonder how much worse it is going to get.

Atlanta @ New England - Brady finally wakes up. Atlanta finally runs into a team that can play some football. Atlanta 23 NE 27
San Francisco @ Minnesota - Good matchup. Two of the best RB's in the NFL; two of the better defenses. Tough call. Go with the home team. SF 20 Minn 24
Jacksonville @ Houston - Yeah, I'm off the Jax train. Jax 13 Houston 27
Tennessee @ NY Jets - I don't think I'd like to be playing the Titans right now. This should be a barn-burner of a game, very close. I'm going with the Jets. Tennessee 24 Jets 27
Kansas City @ Philadelphia - Philly gets a patsy to take their frustration out on. They have a lot of frustration to take out. KC 13 Philly 31
Green Bay @ St. Louis - Another frustration venting game. Green Bay is better than what they showed last week; St. Louis is exactly as bad as they seem. GB 27 St. Louis 6
NY Giants @ Tampa Bay - Steamroller. Freight train. Anyone get the number of that bus? NYG 35 TB 10
Washington @ Detroit - Like I've been saying, Detroit won't lose 'em all this year. Here's win #1. Washington 10 Detroit 24
Chicago @ Seattle - Another frustration game. Seattle will win, but not by a lot. Chicago 17 Seattle 24
Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati - Upset special. Cincy's defense mobbed GB last week, they'll be all over Big Ben in this one. Close, but Pittsburgh drops to 1-2 here. Pittsburgh 17 Cincy 20
Miami @ San Diego - Miami won't travel well on this one, and San Diego's defense is stout enough to deal with the wildcat. Miami 20 San Diego 27
Denver @ Oakland - Denver is not as good as their record. Oakland is. Denver in a squeaker. Denver 21 Oakland 20
Indianapolis @ Arizona - Indy's defense is suspect...VERY suspect. Arizona has a decent defense and a very dangerous offense. Indy 24 Arizona 31
Carolina @ Dallas - What can you say about this one, the quarterbacks are looking like Dumb & Dumber so far this year. As much as I despise the Cowgirls and Bony Homo, I don't think Carolina can win this one. However, against my better judgment, I'm going with the upset special, series II on this one. Carolina 24 Dallas 21
My game:
New Orleans @ Buffalo - Buffalo has two very good receivers (hey, TO's an @$$, but he's a talented @$$) and a QB that can get the ball to them if he has time. However, they just IR'd their starting left tackle. Yeah, he won't have much time. Gregg Williams got run out of Buffalo on a rail, he's going to have the Saints D wound up and ready to explode this weekend. The Saints offense doesn't need any extra incentive, exploding is what they do - but Buffalo has 2 weeks worth of film to study now, so they will have a little success slowing 'em down. A very little. Saints 31 Bills 17

Only 31 points for the Aints? That makes me question Drew Brees as a starter in my FF league. I don't know how my team will handle that sort of underachievement.

The part about how great the Saints offense is? Yeah, big deal. Everyone is saying that right now. Jerome is just joining in the banter to make himself look smarter.
There is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks the Saints would put up more than 21 points on us with Troy playing, which he would be if we met in the Super Bowl.

The matchups I really care about:
San Francisco vs Minnesota. I really want to see the Niners win this game. They started 2-0 in 2007 too before unraveling so I really want to make sure this isn't fool's gold to start the season. The key is obviously the Niners run D (which has looked good) and how well they contain AP. On the other side, I think this is another week where Gore struggles a bit against a good Vikings defense and Shawn Hill has to make some plays which he can do.
Going full homer I'm saying 20-14 Niners.
Cowboys vs Carolina. I am not capable of rooting for the Cowboys but I think they win this game handily. And while no Dallas win is good, the fact that the Panthers drop to 0-3 with the Niners owning their first rounder is not a bad thing. 31-13 Cowboys
Indianpolis over Arizona in a close one
Chicago takes out some anger and clobbers Seattle
Jets vs League Office. Tampering with Crabtree? I don't know, but teams don't normally file a formal complaint unless they have some kind of proof. If nothing else maybe the Niners are just trying to scare off teams and eliminate future options for Crabtree at this point. I'm saying the Jets lose a 3rd rounder.
Niners vs Crabtree I don't see him signing with the team at all. And considering his salary demands I'm not sure any team will trade for him AND be willing to pay him what he wants. He may well reenter the draft. Somehow despite all the handwringing I think he'll end up getting what he wants from some team. These things always seem to turn out that way.

Sure does, and it always irritates me. I'm sure each case is different, but I wonder how much of this one is the agent filling his head with nonsense and how much of it is Crabtree.
Has he done any radio or TV interviews down there where you can get a read on the guy? I've only read articles.

You are telling me, in all seriousness, that ONE player on the Steelers defense JUST ONE, is the reason they looked so ineffective at Chicago? Really?
If they play like that in a hypothetical SB against the Saints, the Saints won't score 21, they'll take 21 and DOUBLE it, then multiply by 5. On top of that, the plain fact is that on their best day, there is NO WAY Big Ben and the Steelers offense could get into a shooting match with Brees and company. That's a loss out of the gate.
You guys lost to the BEARS, a team that couldn't get out of their own way the week before, and you seriously believe that that defense could even slow New Orleans' offense down?

We have made it more than once. Matter of fact, it's only been a few years since we made the NFC Championship.
I agree, I'll save the SB banter for the SB, and whoever makes it to face us. Based on what we've seen so far, I'm not counting on seeing Troy.

Nope, nothing. Outside of some vague Twitter posts along the lines of him staying ready he hasn't made any public comments. He's left that to Deion Sanders, Eugene Parker (his agent) and his college coach. And what's funny about Mike Leach coming to his aid is that he told reporters that Crabtree wasn't a "diva" but was a loner who let people handle things for him and maybe should be more assertive in all this. So, he's not a money hungry egomaniac but an anti-social guy who is letting others damage his career without objecting? I don't know which is worse.
Somehow I just envision Crabtree going to a contending team, making the money he wants and the Niners getting screwed when their only mistake was drafting Crabtree at 10 and offering him a more than fair deal.
I still hope he signs, but if he doesn't and the Niners get screwed over while he goes elsewhere I might for the first time ever wish that a player has a career ending injury.
There are only two safeties in the NFL that dramatically change their teams' defense and they are Troy and Bob Sanders. Ed Reed at his best is a game changer with his ballhawking but not the lynchpin to the Ravens D that those two are to the Steelers and Colts respectively. And their value is underscored even more by neither having a very good backup.
