It's only 5 games into a 16 game season hoss, and a LOT can change in a short time....and that "third" place is a ONE game difference right now.

It's tough to duplicate the previous year's efforts, especially when the prior year was so dominating. Everyone is geared up to play the SB title holder, the films have been studied to death by everyone, injuries happen, stuff happens.
Really make one appreciate just how difficult it is to string 2 or 3 SB wins back-to-back. In this age of never ending trades, contract disputes and poor pre-season conditioning injuries, going 2 in a row is a hard road .....

Yup, but I ain't givin' up....we start seeing some key guys back this coming week - Sharper and Ingram come off PUP, Pierre Thomas should be back; then by the end of the month we get both Bush and Porter back.
We didn't really lose any players or coaches this off season, so that isn't the issue. I think it's a combination of other teams really being up and ready for them added to a team that is just not playing with any fire right now....

As badly as I think my Saints are doing (and they're looking like poop right now), at least they're not the Cows!

I had to miss all weekend of the trash talk, so it comes out now.
I'm just frustrated that we don't play like the same team week to week, or quarter to quarter. And that is especially true with what should be a dominant defense.
Also I never thought that all 4 teams in the AFC south would be tied this season at all. I had counted Jax out from the get go and figured the other 3 would be in a foot-race.
I hear ya, it's been a WEIRD season....interesting though....lots of teams that you'd expect to be lighting the league on fire are very inconsistent, some are flat not playing well...even I'm a bit surprised by the Cowboys (not upset, mind you!
)...

Your Foulclowns have a ONE game lead with 11 games to go. The Saints have been playing down several important players all season, and will start getting them back over the next 3-4 weeks. They've played flat all season as well and have still been in every game, even the one against the Foulclowns - who only won because our kicker go the yips.
If at the end of the season you're right, I'll eat my crow; you willing to step up and say the same thing? I doubt it, because you know in your heart of hearts that the Saints are the better team.
Speaking of counting chickens:
The team that beat your boys got reamed 41-7 when they went against the Falcons, and the only loss for the Falcons had to be done in overtime.
I don't know that the NFL was actually discussing it. I think it was more about the fans complaining. The problem, from what I've been reading of the pundits, is that it's hard to write a rule against "icing".
The 49ers game was fun to watch. One minute the crowd was booing Alex Smith out of the building, five minutes later he was a hero. I just wish they would have won.

I know it sounds stupid, but the 49ers are the best 0-5 team in the history of professional football.
Very very good team, very very bad luck.
They're going to just BLOW UP on someone, and soon....
But they could always take the coach's time out power away. When they gave coaches the TO, that is when this became the problem.
Do you know when that change happened? For some reason I thought coaches always had TO power.
"Ok boys, I can't call timeout anymore, so If they go to kick a field goal to win the game, hit a time out right before they snap the ball."
