Agreed. It doesn't matter what his political message was, it's that:
1) He made a statement in declining the invitation to the White House
2) He posted a brief explanation online, one that did not fully elaborate his reasoning.
3) He shut down and refused to take on the situation himself thereafter, leaving his teammates to answer to the media.

I'm in no way suggesting he should have felt required to go to the White House. But if he had simply refused the invitation and either not commented, or waited until the offseason, it would've been easier for his teammates. If he had even taken the media attention himself instead of being stubborn and shutting down, it would've been less of a bother.

That said, he's a fantastic goaltender, and a tremendously entertaining one to watch. I don't doubt he can do well this time around.

Untested Zatkoff (no NHL experience) will backup Fleury. Vokoun missed time in 05-06 with this problem.

Read a lot of conflicting info on the Vokoun blood clot. One report had him just hours away from death if he hadn't received treatment. Really hope he can make a full recovery and live a healthy life.

Zatkoff looked really good in the game they started him in after the Vokoun blood clot. We've also got Hartzell who definitely has some talent. I'm curious to see where the Pens go from here. There's been talks about signing Bryzgalov, which I would actually really like.

If Crosby stays healthy, I see him breaking his career high for points in a season. I don't think he's that injury prone, just had two years where he's been incredibly unlucky. Guy is a freak athlete. I don't expect to see the rest of his career injury prone.

That said, one funny puck to the head and Stamkos may end up with 100 more points than him :P But I would always go Crosby. His ability to set up opponents outweighs Stamkos' raw scoring ability for more potential points.

If I had to choose between Stamkos and Crosby in a fantasy situation, it'd be a toss-up. But if I were a GM, I'd take Stamkos. Crosby is perhaps more skilled overall, but Stamkos has a killer shot and is tough as nails. I remember in game 7 of the EC finals in 2011, a Boychuk slapper ramped up his stick and caught him square on the nose just under the visor. He dropped like a sack of potatoes, was down the tunnel for about 5 minutes and then back on the bench with a cage on. He looked like someone was pounding a railroad spike into his head, but he was out there playing his regular shift. That was impressive.
