I just don't think the market would support an NHL team. Between the price of tickets and the quality of the team, I think it would fail after a few years. Sure, people like the Thunderbirds and the Silvertips up in Everett, but I just don't see it working long term. Is the third WHL team you are referring to the Winterhawks in Portland or are you thinking Tri Cities and Spokane?

Peverley was not living up to $3.25M/year. He had flashes of greatness (rarely) and was a solid face-off guy and a good defensive forward/penalty killer (although not as good as Campbell and Paille). He also broke a great deal of glass in Boston. The object is to put the puck in the net, not to try to break glass.

You can get good third line defensive forwards who break glass for $1.5-$2M/year. I think it's a brilliant deal by Chiarelli. An under-achieving diva and an over-paid (granted, Chiarelli's fault) glass-breaker who wins a few face-offs for one of the better wingers in the game and two really good prospects (Reilly Smith and Joe Morrow).

I also do not believe that Seguin will ever be an effective NHL Center. I may be proven wrong, but the B's get cap relief and dump two players who could have helped bring a second cup to Boston in the last three years, but really didn't do that much.

I'm happy. Sign Rask and use the rest of the cap space to get Alfredsson.

The habs & their fans are really rough on French-Canadians playing for them. The expectations are much higher than they are with Americans or Europeans.

But boo'ing him? He'd have to screw up big time. :D Don't we just boo philly's full roster anyways? :ninja:

That's the first thing I thought of too. During every game with the Flyers in Montreal the Habs fans would boo him mercilessly every time he touched the puck. I always loved having him on the Flyers, but his production had definitely tailed off lately. He always turned it up in the playoffs though. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be this past season. I have a feeling he'll enjoy playing up there and get back some of his old mojo...
