NHL 2013 post season thread!

I'm not convinced. I remember 2011. The Pens came out in game one of that series and smacked around that years new kids on the block, Tampa Bay. Then they lost the series in seven.

It is a small sample size (1 game), but the B's came out and played 60 minutes of Bruins hockey - they were skating and hitting and digging in the corners. Rather than spot the opponents a 2 goal lead, this time they just gave up the first goal, but then scored the next four. (I'm with Ziltoid - 3 or 4 goals is about right). Even the B's announcers were saying after the first period which ended 2-1 that they already have seen as much action and entertainment as 3 periods of most of the B's regular season games.

Riemer looked a little shaky on a couple of goals but his D wasn't doing him any favors. B's finishing touch was as good as it has been since the first month of the season. If you want to see an absolute laser to the top (goalie's) left corner- check out Boychuk's goal on a slapshot from about 3 or 4 feet inside the blue line.

Rask was solid and came up big when he needed to. If this is the B's team that shows up, they have a chance.

The Leafs came out flying but the Bruins quickly took over with the help of a poor performance by Reimer and pretty much everybody else wearing a Leafs uniform. But the 2 weak goals given up by Reimer certainly didn't help.

Did anybody see the HUGE mistake Quick made while playing the puck behind the net which led to an overtime win for the Blues? Aye-aye-aye, that was baaaad.

The semi-elbow thrown by Ferrence towards Grabovski was uncalled for. Ferrence's attitude in the post-game interview was equally terrible. Hope he gets a game. Not impressed by his actions nor his attitude.

Nice job, Dustin Brown. Trying to make contact with the knee AND the elbow.

Nice win by the Sens , Anderson really stole it from them.
Mtl only scored a goal on a 5min penalty and on a 5 on 3 , that's where the game was decided.

The hit on Eller was hard but not illegal IMHO , it's the pass from the D that was suicidal. Sad that Mtl lose their best player on that one but Subban did a similar "Attempt" on the 1st period without the same result.

Loved to watch the game between LA and Stl , good , hard playoff hockey.

The game is so much better this time of the year :bassist:

I didn't notice it during the game; but after watching the replay, a game seems to be the right call. Didn't see his comments.
He was smiling defiantly with a smug expression and telling the media "Yeah, I don't know what you're talking about. Nope, nope, didn't see it." It was clear to anybody without an impaired vision or set of ears that he knew full well what he had done.

Meanwhile, no Canadian team has won except for the Sens and that's only because 2 Canadian teams went head-to-head. Otherwise, I'm sure they would've lost too. lol!

Bit of a strange game. Habs are down 1-0, rally up to get the lead 2-1. Then, Eller gets absolutely destroyed on a suicide pass by an open-ice hit by Gryba. It was a legal hit (shoulder to head) that was unfortunate. But the consequences of it are very very bad.

Video below. LOTS of blood, so perhaps NSFW depending on who you ask.

The results are ; concussion, as well as facial and dental fractures. Too late to know if he'll be able to be back in any capacity this season, but my bet will be that he's done which is too bad considering he had hit his stride and was one of the more important players who was centering the best line on the team.

Gotta say that as far as injuries are concerned, the Habs certainly seem snakebitten. Saku Koivu gets his eye almost ripped off by Justin Williams' reckless stickwork, Zednik got clotheslined by MacLaren ending his season. He was never the same player afterwards. And now, Eller. Yikes.

Eller is done, no way he's coming back after that. I swear living in Montreal is like living with that emperor who has no clothes. No one will come out and say it. Price is not an NHL caliber goaltender. He was 50th in the league in save percentage. 50th!!
But, he was voted player of the year for the team, he was mentioned for the vezina. It like the friggin' twilight zone!! I swear, if they keep him next season, I'm off of hockey for good.
Its nuts.
BTW, I don't think it was a dirty hit. Bad pass, Eller wasn't looking up. Too bad, he's amazing to watch.

It wasn't legal imo. After seeing that replay it was definitely charging. Also, two years ago wasn't there a rule added saying if you come on a player's blind-side you shall not hit at 100%?

Anyways, the league and refs seem to have forgotten what charging is, not just in this case but overall, it's never called.
