NHL 2013 regular season thread!

B's are holding to their pattern of late - give up two goals. The rest of the pattern is they score two to tie, give up one and score another to go to OT. In general they have been good in OT. Still a chance to take a point or two, but the B's have to at least match Philly's intensity - Flyers have carried the play for two periods and deserve their lead.

What is all this "four past Bryzgalov" I hear, he's pitching a shutout so far. Arrrrggghh!

UMass-Lowell is still looking good. There will be three eastern teams in the frozen four: Lowell, Yale and either Quinnipiac or Union. I'm a little torn over Lowell-Yale. Yale is the underdog and my sax player went there, but Lowell is only 25 miles from me and it is a gritty underdog city and school with a hockey program that has made huge strides lately - I'll stick with Lowell.

The B's broke their pattern - in the wrong direction.

Only made up one goal of the two goal deficit and have a old-fashioned loss to show for it. I was hoping that they would have carried over the scoring touch from the Montreal game, but that didn't happen. :atoz:

I've seen all for of those teams play this year in person. Of that group, I'm taking Quinnipiac to win it all. They look and play like an NHL team, and have great coaching.

Yes, I realize I'm not going out on a limb picking the overall #1 team in the country to win it all, but I just can't pick against them.

You have to call like it like you see it. I watched a bit of the QU - Canisius game; it took a while for QU to get rolling but there was no panic in their game even as they fell behind Canisius. The #1 overall is usually that for a reason - Louisville is showing that so far in the hoops tourney and QU may as well. I'm a little worried for Lowell since QU has more Canadians on the roster than Lowell and Yale but all the teams have a couple of players from Europe as well.

That is a shame. As much as I dislike Crosby in some respects, I hate to see an injury like that, especially to someone who is playing so well.

The Flyers had a good weekend and are now just two points out of a playoff spot. This team hasn't shown any ability this season to put together any sort of sustained winning streak, so I am still not optimistic that they will remain in the playoff hunt, but at least the last couple of games have had some intensity.

Nice to see a former Penguin get the winning goal for Philadelphia against Washington.

What a bummer on Crosby, wow. Him and Malkin can't stay healthy anymore.

OK guys, what do you think? Anderson/Bishop/Lehner in Ottawa. Who is the odd man out when Anderson comes back?

Talbot's broken leg doesn't help their chances either. Rough season for injuries for a lot of teams.

A ton of injuies was bound to happen with the compressed season and the grand push for the playoffs. Everyone had to play the season with the pedal to the metal and without time to preaper and get up to speed. This season was a disaster waiting to happen for a lot of reasons.

I repeat what Debs said, as much as I dislike Crosby, here's hoping that broken jaw doesn't evolve into something mroe serious along the lines of reopening concussion issues with him.

Talbot was in one heck of a lot of pain last night.

At the Wings game, nearly had a puck had I been paying attention more and it would have saved a guy's face behind me. Anyone watching that Hawks/Wings game... when the puck went off the ice for a Hawks penalty for delay of game in the second period, that wizzed by us, nearly hitting my 29 year old son and whacked a guy in the next row right in front of his left ear. No blood, but he was pretty black and blue by the time he left midway through the third. He didn't even get the puck for his troubles, it wound up rolling down the steps and someone in one of the lower rows got it.

Funny moment after the game:

Flyers' commentator Steve Coates is on the Flyers bench, right by the tunnel, doing a post-game interview with Fedotenko about the game winning goal. In the background, you can hear the PA announcer giving three stars of the game. Behind Coates, you can see Giroux (third star) and Timmonen (second star) skate out to take their bows. As Fedotenko is in the middle of answering a question from Coates, you hear in the background, "And tonight's first star ... Ruslan Fedotenko."

Fedotenko stops his answer mid-sentence, says to Coates, "hold on one second," gets up, bows to the crowd, and then sits down and picks up his answer mid-sentence, exactly where he left off.
