Well, despite the amazing run by the Oilers, that loss to St. Louis has pretty much ended their season. They still have a chance if they won their remaining games, but tonight they play Dallas IN Dallas. I think it has been 10 years since we've won there.
Isn't it ironic, this year the Oilers will actually not play Dallas in the playoffs, yet their season will still be ended by the Stars....
It's fate I tell you. Either we play Dallas, or the hockey Gods do not allow us to make the playoffs. Of course, if I had the choice between them playing Dallas in the first round or not making it, I'd rather they just didn't make it. It's like watching the same series on video tape over and over and over again which is no fun when your team is the one that loses. I'm at the point now where I could even tell you the exact minute when Dallas will score.
All I was hoping for was to see the Oilers play Detroit. Sure they'd lose, but they would lose in a different way and it would be interesting.
I think the Oilers team right now (post trade deadline) is better than St. Louis, Nashville, and Calgary. If they had this group of players all year long (Nedved, Ulanov, Markkanen, NO Salo) I'm sure they would be in a playoff spot now, and would have pretty good shot at winning a round or two.
