NHL Playoff Race!

I thought Turco really sucked last year in the playoffs. I think he is good, but is still probably the most overrated goalie in the league. Edmonton would have beat Dallas last year in the playoffs, except Salo was as bad, or worse, than Turco.
Of course, I'm an Oiler fan, so the simple fact that he plays for the Stars means I hate him :p .

Being an Oiler fan must be very similar to being a Cowboy fan the last few years. Remembering past glories. Hoping against all evidence that those glory days will return this year. Sad..... :bawl:
I actually like the Oilers. Lots of heart. Grit. You know, hockey stuff.

I played a gig Saturday night in a near sold out club here in Ottawa, and it was at maybe 1/3rd capacity for the night thanks to the Ottawa Toronto matchup happening for home ice advantage... what an embarassment that game was.

Gotta like the Sens this year though. Last 3 times we lost to the Leafs in the playoffs we'd won 5 or more of the 6 regular season matchups with them. This year T.O. is 4-1-1. I think it's time to break the curse... either that or Belfour will shut us out in 4 straight the way he's playing right now.

Lots of interesting matchups for round 1... too bad most of the Canadian teams are playing against each other so early on. Calgary / Vancouver should be a dandy too.

I predicted the Devils in 5 or 6....

Wishful thinking???
Reverse psychology.
...or maybe I'm just a realist. ;)

i acctually think philly will take devils... i hate devils D... you just need a goalie:P no offence but give me a brake... maybe put Antero Niittymaki in net... 24spg 1gapg and others who played most have 2.5gapg... cmon let the man go at it... :]]]
"...you just need a goalie".
Thanks, now I feel a whole lot better where goaltending in the playoffs is 'The X-factor'...where a subpar team can ride on the back of a hot goaltender. Remember the Mighty Ducks last season? They took Jersey to a game 7!
;)

BTW, I agree about Niitymaki.
But no, Clarke hadda trade(again!) for Burke!
:spit:

Well, the B's lost game three. Great fast paced game, though.

In game four, however, Mike Ribeiro (Canadiens) better watch out. His "I am on my back writhing in pain" act to stop play while the Bruins were attacking was a JOKE! He was just fine skating back to his bench while laughing and taunting the Bruins' bench.

Damn, it's an embarrasing time when Edmonton doesn't make it in... and CALGARY DOES! :crying:

Oh well, I'd still rather see Calgary go further than Dallas, Colorado, St. Louis, Detroit and the like... at least they're not ridiculously overpaid!

;)

I agree 100%...though Gonchar shoulda been whistled for that obvious hook/tackle behind the net in the offensive zone.

Some AHL info for youse-
The team here in Norfolk made the Calder Cup playoffs(big f'-ing deal...5th place in the Divison). How they backed in, though, is the story-
The Hershey Bears had to win yesterday vs. The Philly Phantoms.
The game goes to OT, the Bears get a Power Play & then pull their goaltender in order to have a 5-3 skaters' advantage.
Hershey ends up shooting the puck into their own net on a pass...the Phantoms' goaltender gets credited with the goal.
;)

Maybe it's just me but I really don't like the way Calgary plays. Sure they are aggressive and play a very faced paced game but it is just so chippy I can't stand watching it at times. There is no skill or flow in the game when they are playing and I find there is just too much clutching/grabbing/stickwork. At least the physical play is fun to watch, and crowds have been fantastic in that series.
I really feel sorry for the Canuck players though because I've played against teams like that and it is incredibly frustrating, especially for the more skilled players. It's no wonder that all of Naslund's points are on the pp because that's the only time he can get any room to move.

Oh yeah, told you Turco was overrated :smug: . He is dead last in playoff save percentage and goals against average. (Now watch him steal 3 games in a row for Dallas :p )
And What about Khabibulin? 3 Shutout wins already and a .983 save percentage. I really should have taken him in my pool.
