NHL PLayoffs 2009

I don't like Kunitz trying to injure Timonen all series long but I guess that's how goons play.

You've got be kidding me right? After the lunkhead hockey Philly played in the first two games? At least your reference to goons is directed at one player and not the majority of the defensemen for the Flyers. But that's just a generalization and opinion from me as a die hard Penguins fan. And all the comments concerning the bad calls (from several here) could go both ways, in every playoff hockey game and including the Stanley Cup. Games can be won or lost by what the refs see or don't see.

It all ends Thursday night.

And Vancouver sweeps.

I can't say I'm happy...I am a bit shocked. I mean, I know St. Louis were underdogs, but with the best record in the second half of the season, I figured they have at least some momentum.

Wings go up 3-0. They win 4-1 so in three games thay have given up 2 goals, so much for the liability at goaltender.:smug:

Bahh, Osgood will do fine. I have been watching him since the day he blew it against San Jose in 94'. Unfortunately for him, people remember those soft goals more than his solid playing throughout his career.

You don't win as many games and Stanley Cups as he has by being a bad goalie, no matter how good the team around you is.

So you agree with me?

You've got be kidding me right?
Nope

So wait; you don't agree with me. Timmo = Goon? Coburn = Goon? Parent = Goon? Alberts = Goon? The only goon on the Flyers is Carcillo who is most definitely not the Majority of the Flyers D. Concerning the hit on Timo in game 3....clean hit, but a cheap shot. Thanks for taking out a guy who was already covered. Attempt to injure....Kunitz tried to do it to Timo with a knee a few shifts into game 1. Timo is targeted.

Something we can agree on. My problem is the inconsistency. Crosby takes out Biron and it's a goal...Richards makes incidental contact with Fluery and it's a penalty....????? Concerning bad calls....Yeah; some from here and a lot more that I've let go. This has been the case for the over two seasons that I've watched religiously. No one will admit to it but the Flyers are held to a different standard when it comes to penalties. Maybe my perception is off...I mean after watching two entire seasons (save 4 or 5 games) opposing teams get away with a lot more liberties than the Flyers do. To your credit I am 3000 miles away...might be a little hard to see from my sofa.

It all ends Thursday night.
Something else we can agree on. At that time I'll give the Pens a tip of the hat and be pleased with all the time that will be freed up now that the season is over....(secretly I'll be rooting for the Canucks.)

PS....This is supposed to be a light hearted thread so sorry if that (or this) post offended you....It's just a game.

Can you believe that 'Canes goal at the very last second to win?

One hell of a screen/tip in. I'm angry, but there's no way in hell Marty could've stopped it.

My first post to this thread, so forgive the newb.

I was at the game. I thought the roof was going to explode off the building when the Canes scored. The tension during the 2 minutes or so that the goal was being reviewed was unreal. When they confirmed the goal the entire place erupted.

Marty was pretty peeved, he broke his stick after the goal was confirmed. Even though I am a huge Canes fan, I have to admit that this is a very evenly matched pair of teams and it's made for a great series so far.

No one will say it....but the Flyers are held to a different standard when it comes to penalties.

I'll say it.....the Flyers are held to a different standard, and it is one they created themselves. It is a reputation the entire team brings on the ice, so naturally the refs are looking for it.

Look....I'm older and slower than most of the guys I play sports with these days. The only chance I got against some guys is to get real physical with them and try to take them off their game. I can't match them on speed and quickness anymore, so I'll get a little more physical and rough a guy up a bit to try and equalize the talent. I see the Flyers doing the same thing....they are not as fast or quick as the Pens. The only chance they got is to play rough and take some shots here and there and hope the refs don't see it. Well, the refs are watching. Sorry bro....your own team created the reputation, now deal with it.

I have watched every second of every game. I was at game two on Friday night. Philly is playing some dirty hockey right now. Rough physical hockey I can deal with. I hope you guys lose 12-1 Thursday night. I'm sick of the Flyers.

We had 16 PIM compared to your 10, you out shot us by 20, you doubled us up on hits 24-12. Don't be looking at the refs as to why you guys can't win a game on your home ice.

P.S....yes, this is only a game, and this thread is light hearted. I love all you guys, but I won't miss a chance to throw down with a Flyers fan. :D

Oh, please. The Flyers dominated last night's game. The Pens were able to steal a victory because they had the better goaltender, not because they out-skated the Flyers.
