NHL Regular Season 2017-18

I was in Grade 5, so I can at least (sort of) remember it. Hey Derek, as all true Leaf fans know....there is always next year!

Haha! Too funny, cuz here's a picture of my jersey (or sweater, if you're old school)

The Pens didn't need to add anyone at the trade deadline. All they had to do was not trade away Cole and Reaves.
That is what I meant by ignoring the defense. Rutherford gutted that defense so he could have some average guy as the fourth line center in Brassard.
The Pens struggled early, finally put it together as 2018 started, then Rutherford cleans house. Dumb.
Even despite that, they don't have any veteran leadership. Sure, Crosby is a veteran now and an amazing talent. But he's not your Guerin/Cullen type that this team is going to need as the playoffs roll on. They've had that the last two years, now they don't and it's going to cost them.

I gotta admit trading away defense is strange before the playoffs, especially when you're in the race for them.

I'll also add, I really enjoy our thread every NHL season.
I've been watching the NHL since the late 80's. The drafting of Lemieux and the Gretzky trade rekindled my interest in hockey.
However, I don't consider myself an authority on the NHL, so I appreciate the thoughts and opinions of everyone who contributes.
I've learned a lot about hockey from these threads going back to the days when @marcray, @warwick.hoy, and @TheXym posted actively.

Pens surprised me by their flat opening period but the rest of the game was awesome. Crosby's thru-the-legs face-off win then skating it down to set up Dumoulin's goal was epic. And it was against Giroux, which made it even more pleasant.

I only got to see the opening period of the VGK/Kings game 3...wow, that was the fastest and roughest contest I'd seen in a long time. If somebody had never seen a hockey game before, then seeing all that action and physicality would hook them as a fan for life.

Hey D M C, this may be the strangest thing I'll ever post...I found myself really pulling for your Jackets last night. Even said to my son what an odd and surreal feeling it is rooting for those guys, (especially Dubinsky!) which I always placed as my second most-hated team behind Philly. Evidently they're my third most-hated team at the moment...Caps are currently at #2. LOL

Even though I'd prefer a Pens/Caps matchup in round 2 as I think the Pens are in the Caps heads, I was still wanting to see the Jackets take those games in Washington.

And props to the Wild. Held their own and then some against the Jets. We'll se if they can repeat that effort for game 4.

Wild are doing ok tonight, but I'm not sure they have a series win in them. We have to win one in Winnipeg and that's not been happening.

Well you sure played well tonight. Handed us our awss. Its not like the first two games you had nuthing; your guys really worked hard and made it hard on Jets. Your guys really played well last night, jets, not so much.

Now that i buttered you up, there's this bass that GC won't ship to Canada... you wouldn't be coming to Winnipeg to catch a game..,,,?

Well, I'm going with VGK at this point, lol. Hate the west coast games... past my bed time.
Funny scores though, 1-0,2-1,3-2. I'm going to go off the board and say the next game is 4-3.

Yeah. Last night was a heartbreaker for my Kings. Tied until like six minutes remaining, then two fast Knights goals Quick should have saved; he knew it too. They got one back when they pulled him, but too late.

Fleury is just playing better than Quick, though both are slugging. But yeah, it's not looking like the Queens can do it.

You're right; I didn't get down until past one am. Luckily today's a holiday, but I'll stay up late to watch the Kings in the playoffs... just not for much longer, alas.

You might have underestimated them, they did more than ok tonight.
I guess. I hate to get too excited.

Sorry Steve but "long time" is a relative thing....
True.

We have talked about it but the tickets are pretty expensive. It's way quicker and cheaper than going down to St. Paul for sure. We can even do it in a day.
