Yes, in my excitement over Sid's OT winner, I'd forgotten about the big guy's two-goal performance. Hopefully that game will be the one that kick-starts his season.

Sprong didn't even belong on the ice last night. Unaggressive and contributed little. I know he can score but he's gonna need to work a bit harder to score at the NHL level.

Panthers had a "closed door" players meeting last night after losing to the Rangers. Seems to have really helped:rollno: (currently trailing the Islanders 2-0, end of 2).Gaaaah!:bag: Addendum-Well, I'll be damned! They came back and won in OT! Awright!:):hyper:

I like both the 'Bolts and the Cats, which makes it interesting when they play each other. My daughter likes the Lightning and the Golden Knights, which will make Friday night interesting for her. So we're going to a Solar Bears game in Orlando, just to totally confuse things.;)

Fun game to watch if you're a Pens fan. Murray looked the best I ever remember seeing him...was fluid, positionally perfect all night, and looks rejuvenated. Also noticed he was wearing regular skates, not goalie skates. Whatever works! Too bad Neal's fluttering off-speed knuckle puck made it past him...a shutout would have been nice.

Even the Coyotes made another strong showing, shutting down the 'Nucks with a couple shorthanded goals.

Caps, Flyers, and Rangers all lose.

Overall, a good night for this hockey fan. ;)

This a rough start to the season as a Kings fan. I don't know what their problem is, exactly, but I bet their coach isn't long for this job. The team president and the GM both indicated that the expectations going into the season were for the team to be a legitimate contender and they have the talent to at least be a playoff team. Given that, I think Stevens is getting the boot. They've got five points in ten games and have lost six in a row; their two wins came against Detroit and Montreal. I haven't been this discouraged by a Kings team in years. Though, last time it happened they ended up with Doughty in the next draft, so possible silver lining I guess.

The Kings are surprising, and not in a good way. Like you said, they seemed to be loading up this summer toward contending, but so far not working out. A team that added Kovalchuk to a lineup with Kopitar, Carter, Doughty, and Toffoli should not be at the bottom of the standings.

Good win by the B's over the Flyers last night. Halak had a shutout, no 5-star saves but a bunch of pretty good ones in front of a defense that played much better than you would expect with 3 starters missing. That said, Philly really doesn't look good right now so the B's were fortunate to get them on the schedule at this time. Finally some scoring from anyone not named Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak. A long one from Chara that probably got tipped, a power play by DeBrusk assisted by Krejci and a 180' empty net power play goal - Chara shot it from 2 or 3 feet behind his goal line, longest goal that I can remember.

Oh, come on now. That was sooooo last week! :D

All kidding aside, they have only one regulation loss but also have those 2 OT losses. Yeah, they've played quite well these past few games but they're still basically 5-3 after 8 games. Although there's reason to be optimistic and I'm glad to see the upswing there's a few things that still need to be addressed. Not planning any parades just yet. Maybe next week. ;)

Sid's backhand shot continues its way through the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. Five goals in three games, the majority some slick backhand maneuvers.

And how about those Coyotes? Couldn't buy a goal through the first two weeks of the season, but score 11 in the past two games, including two shorthanded goals in EACH of those games. Glad to see Tocchet's boys playing some good hockey.

I know it's only about 10 games in, but 2 teams are surprising me a bit. Habs and Sabres. I know Buffalo has been rebuilding and making progress, but they seem farther ahead than I thought they would be. And did not at all see Montreal playing at this level. Could be an interesting year. Oh yeah, Matthews out for 4 weeks kind of sucks too.
