NHL Season 2018-19

Well, it happened again. Pens seem to get their share of an average goalie having the game of his life against them. Last night it was Thomas Griess, a career backup, and he saved (practically) everything the Pens threw at him. Lightning quick glove hand was impressive. I only saw the second half of the game, but Pittsburgh had the upper hand throughout most of it, but just couldn't capitalize when they needed to. Disappointed it was another division loss, but these kinds of games happen occasionally.

I am shocked, completely shocked, that our boy Jack escaped that game as a mere -1. The only guy (on defense) with more ice time was Letang.
Thanks, again, Matt Murray for nothing.

I don't think Murray was bad at all last night. Don't think anyone can hang this one on him. Maybe if we got to play the Pens more often, this 4 week thing would not be so bad....

After having a very positive run through Canada, the Pens return east and lose four straight. Dropping both games in a back-to-back series to the Islanders, then fall to the Leafs and Devils at PPG Paints Arena. Last two games on home ice...outscored 10-1. Ouch.

Ever since they moved into that new arena, I've never felt they've had much of a home-ice advantage. For whatever reason, it doesn't seem to affect opponents the way some buildings do.

On the other hand, I gotta give props to Brian Boyle. Leukemia survivor, he goes out and scores a hat trick on Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night. I always liked this guy, even when he played/plays for division opponents.

From the 'What have you done for me lately?' file...

Joel Quenneville out in Chicago. Ten seasons, three Stanley Cups. But no playoffs last year, and the previous two years were bounced in the first round.

Kings should have waited a day or two before their coaching change. Might have landed Coach Q instead of Desjardins.
