NHL Season 2018-19

Sullivan is going to start feeling the heat if he doesn't figure out how to win games again. If he goes, he should take his buddy Murray with him.
Outscored 10-1 in the last two home games is unacceptable.
Three of the last four losses to division opponents is also unacceptable.

Once again, it boils down to consistency. Last week, the confidence and swagger was there, (passable) team defense was there, and so was the 200' game from everybody.

This week, missing most/all of the above. And the results show that. (The second Islander game was the exception...thought they outplayed the Isles in that one despite the OTL.)

Maybe we can switch buildings with the Leafs...they can't win at home either. ;)

I'm OK with the Bruins - Schmidt, Orr, Bourque, Bergeron. What is nice is that they cover four different eras. Good arguments could be made for Cam Neely and Johnny Bucyk and there would be little dropoff. Phil Esposito is tough to leave off, but he only played with the B's for 8 years and was overshadowed by Orr.

Weird game for the B's last night against the Stars. The B's won 2-1 in OT - Marchand with the winner in a 5 on 3. Rask only let in one goal but it was a bit soft and he looked like he was fighting the puck all night - he also nearly had an own-assist as he "cleared" a puck right to the stick of an onrushing Star and had to make a great save. Former Bruin goalie Khudobin looked sharp for the Stars. A couple of brutal calls by the refs - one a quick whistle that negated a B's goal (you could read the refs lips saying "My bad") and a boarding call against Krug that was not a hard hit pretty far away from the boards. The refs made up for a bit by actually calling penalties in the OT (too many men and cross-checking) both were penalties but I wonder if they would have been called absent the earlier bad calls.

Cool article. thanks for posting. I think i'd only swap out lindsay for the wings but I'm not sure that sawchuck is definitively more representative.

I do think Barasso over Malkin though, but that might be just more a factor of my age.

Might be a good idea, seems there were almost as many people wearing blue and white on Saturday night anyway....

Yeah, but Blashill doesn't have a Kane, Toews, Keith, or a healthy Crawford. But he does have a Larkin, Anthanasiou, and a couple of other younger guys on their way up.

Seeing what Babcock has done in TO makes you wonder what Coach Q could do with those young guys in Detroit.

Ha! Come to a Coyotes game sometime. With so many transplants here (myself included), we all keep our homegrown allegiances. When we got the team ('96-97), the Red Wings, Blackhawks, and Penguins could almost count a Phoenix trip as another home game (esp Det). Nowadays we are seeing the first generation of Yotes' fans reaching adulthood, so there are more local fans that grew up with the team. Still no shortage of visitors' jerseys, but not as much as in the past.

Sad thing is it is cheaper and easier to get tickets to see the Leafs if you travel to Buffalo, Detroit, or Pittsburgh, even with an overnight stay.

In Toronto, 80 bucks is less than the face value of the cheapest ticket. And they never sell for face value or less. And the beer starts at almost 3 times that much.

Same here. Well, close, there are some $75 face value seats, but you can usually find them cheaper in the secondary market.
If we went to two games it would actually be cheaper to drive down to Miami, stay in a cheap hotel and drive back than spring for eight tickets and everything else. After the great time at the Panthers game, it's something I've thought about.

Great plan except that Hockey season and our tourist(touron?)season are the same time frame. Good luck on the 'cheap' hotel.

Prolly. My daughter and I have been to a coupla 'Ning games lately. We drive over from Orlando(where she lives), park free(long story), and get "club level" seats for $160.+/-for the pair. Beer ain't cheap but I don't drink and drive. Mountain Dew's $5. and chicken strips are $10./pop w/ chips.
