NHL Season 2019-20

So, the "open mic" thingy starts at 6:30ish. If I'm needed for the first, say 1/2 hour, maybe. Otherwise, no.
The NHL has chosen-wisely or not-to only have certain things reviewable. I don't really wanna see play stopped every few seconds for review. The instant replay in baseball shows many goofs by the umps, especially balls and strikes. Those games go long enuff w/o review of pitches. I don't wanna see the pace of hockey slowed down. When a call is missed it gives the broadcasters/analysts something to bit...er, gripe about and fans to argue over but unless Toronto wants to be on the phone all bleedin' night over anything missed-that we all get to see in slo-mo from various angles-there will be missed calls.
I've been watching hockey since the mid 60's when there wasn't replay. Or masks.:eek: Even with 2 refs,[stuff]gets missed. And prolly always will be. I'm not interested in watching a computer game. I am interested in seeing a new banner in Amalie Arena when the games resume.(We were there yesterday[Friday]buying playoff gear)

I'm not pushing for everything reviewable, either. Like I said - I don't want to see it slowed down. But, they're probably going to do more.

Im pretty sure the ref simply didn't see the puck hit the goalie's pad. He thought it bounced off the post.

You're right that it's not reviewable. Once the call is made they can't reverse it even if they know they made the wrong call.

But it seemed to me the ref took a long time chatting with the coaches and players before making his way to the face off circle. I'm guessing he knew he blew the call and wanted to give the players who were forced to stay on the ice extra time to rest.

I do not envy them their gig. To try to watch 12 guys skating like dervishes and try to stay outta the way proved to be too much for 1 ref(when it was 1 + 2 linesmen)and now it's still too much for 2-at times.

As much as I love watching NHL hockey, I'm ready-and hoping-for it to end Monday night. It'll all be back in November(I think)with people moving all over the league and/or retiring. Time for "what's he doing in that jersey?" again. "Meanwhile"(as Doc Emrick says)

Some of the Stars best players are injured, too. That kind of evens out.
Some of our "supposed" best players aren't scoring - Seguin. I already fired him (in my mind) months ago.
I hope they have enough left to take it to a game 7, also.

Let me be the first to say "Congratulations" to the TampaBay fans here. They were clearly the better team tonight. I find it exciting whenever they hand out the Stanley Cup. Celebrations are always great. Even if your team loses.
The Stars might have had more injuries than we knew, but they had no offense tonight.
I also can't overlook that the refs made a lot of bad calls that didn't go in Dallas' favor. But, I don't think that would have helped them enough.
Congratulations to TampaBay.

Thanks from a Lightning fan. (My daughter has informed me that we'll be going to Amalie Friday to buy more stuff.) It was a good series. Khudobin is an incredible goalie. Vasi had to play out his @$$ to get the shutout. And TB's "D" was on their game tonight. Dunno if I coulda tooken another game. Third period was intense!

Don't spend all your money in one place. Save some for bass stuff.

Congrats to the Lightning (and @GonePlaid ). Always a neat feeling when your team wins it all.
Unfortunately it will precede the shortest off-season in history, so enjoy it while it lasts...till whenever next season actually starts.

Props to the Stars, too, but ultimately Tampa Bay proved to have a little more oomph when they needed it most. Would have liked to see Coach Bowness win a ring but it was not to be this year.

And a big thank you to @MJ5150 for being the man who starts all of these NHL threads. As I've mentioned before, here on TalkBass is pretty much the ONLY forum where I can discuss hockey and not feel like I'm arguing with a bunch of 15-yr-old idiots and homers. Props to all of you NHL followers here on TB...even you Flyers fans. :smug:

Ha!! As I was reading this paragraph about not feeling like you're arguing with a bunch of 15-year-olds, my mind was saying, "EXCEPT for the legions of Flyers haters on here!!" So imagine my lack of surprise seeing you get in that last little dig... :D

But that's okay. I hate ALL of your other teams! ;) (Kidding. I do love hockey...)

Talk about peaking at the right time. TB understood the bubble, kept their heads in the game better than anyone else, and reaped a well-deserved Stanley Cup.

Even though this season will always have an asterix in every sport, the rules were the same for every team and the Lightning prevailed. Congrats, Florida!

And yes. Absolutely, Bettman should have gotten prerecorded boos.
