All the things you listed are spot on, plus the fact that the bottom 6 forwards contribute virtually nothing on offense. Carter is a shell of the guy we traded for two years ago, and Kapanen, Heinen, McGinn, Blueger are all having subpar years. And unfortunately we can't play Crosby's and Malkin's lines for the entire game. People bang on the Pens as an 'old' team, yeah, but the 'old' guys (minus Carter) are the ones carrying the team.

The penalty kill is better with Teddy B on the ice but the rest of the guys you mentioned absolutely stink this year. I loved the Carter trade two years ago. What a beast he was. But holy cow. What happened to that guy. Every facebook post after a loss is comments of 'shouldn't have kept the core together'....which I just don't get. Aside from Letang's horrendous start to the season, those three aren't the problem. Malkin is playing great hockey lately and Crosby continues to do what he's always done, perhaps not at the level of previous years but my goodness. Plus, where was the team when Anderson cross checked him? No grit from anyone on that team.

That's ALWAYS been an issue with this team. Even when they brought in Ryan Reaves there still was virtually no pushback. He'd jaw a lot but rarely punished a guy when necessary.

I still remember that game years ago where Brandon Dubinsky was repeatedly cross-checking Crosby across the back of his neck shortly after Sid returned from one of his concussions and not one player made that scumbag pay for it, not one.

Yep, I remember that too.

I didn't watch much of the west coast trip here this week, I can't stay up that late anymore, but was glad to see they beat the lowly Sharks last night after the game I went to a few weeks ago. I'm just waiting at this point for Hextall to make a move here.

My apologies for previously defending Teddy B. LOL. I didn't realize his stats were as awful as they are. WOW. Dead last on the team.

My team has me between
" dam they are on fire, these guys are totally reading each others minds. Maybe we can get deep into the playoffs this year"
And
" hmmm there seems to be potential, the guys are coming together, they could make the playoffs in a couple of years "
But hey, that's half the fun.
I keep telling myself that.

The Bruins have been pretty consistent. 


The B's are doing a Siblings road trip. So far, so good, an OT win in Dallas and 4-0 lead at the beginning of the 3rd in Nashville. Marchand and Bergeron's brothers are the easiest to recognize.

This is the first time the B's have taken siblings on the road, do other teams do this?

They may be the exception in being mostly consistent in a good way.

I'll leave you to decide who has been mostly consistent in a bad way...

Yep, another 2-1 lead turns into a 4-2 loss. At home. Also, that makes TEN straight divisional losses.

Hate to admit this, but the Pens' playoff streak of 16 consecutive seasons is in severe danger of ending very soon. Meanwhile GMRH continues to say stuff like this...(an article in The Athletic)...

Hextall added he likes the team "on paper." "But our lack of consistency has been a little bit perplexing, for sure."

Yeah, it's frustrating to watch. As soon as we lost the lead last night I said great, there's another loss. This team just isn't built to come back in the 3rd period. I don't read the trade rumor stuff. I'm just waiting for Hexstall to make a move but I'm not sure the move to fix this team exists in the short term.

As much as I hate to agree with Mark Madden, b/c I think he's a total buffoon, I think he's right in that this team's ceiling is a first round loss. They've been inconsistent the entire season, other than the first week of the season where we won a few. And even then, Letang forgot how to play hockey.
