NHL Season 2022-23

Only 2 games? He will never learn.

That has to be one of the stupidest, most short sighted, selfish penalties that I've ever seen.

What did he think he was going to accomplish by blatantly spearing another player in the crotch while everybody in the world is looking right at him?

Whatever he was thinking, he's earned himself a 5 minute major, a game misconduct, a multiple game suspension, a hefty fine, and an inevitable retaliatory beat down the next time he steps on the ice against that same team. Plus, the disgust of his teammates, coaches, and hometown fans.

Maybe a trip to Wilkes Barre-Scranton?

A disgusting penalty, for sure (DeAngelo). He deserved the penalties, whatever fines/suspensions come his way, and the 4 or 5 opposing players jumping on him in unison.

He had been playing fairly good hockey and staying under control this year. But all that hard work was tossed away by reverting to his old ways. Kind of reminds me of the old saying we had at work: "It only takes one 'Oh (excrement)' to wipe out a whole bunch of 'Attaboy's..."

Reports are the Flyers have axed GM Chuck Fletcher, with Danny Briere taking over in the interim.

Here's hoping current Pens GM (and former Flyers GM) Ron Hextall is available soon to head back across the state and fill that vacancy in Philly. That would be a double win for Pens fans! :smug:
Danny can't do much worse than Chuck did! I have a feeling we are stuck with Hextall for another year at least. Fingers crossed it's sooner.

I've been a huge Mike Sullivan fan since day one, but I have a strange feeling that he may be jettisoned before Hextall. Yeah, he took this team to two consecutive Cups, but hasn't won a playoff series since. And the NHL (and all pro leagues) are based on what have you done for me lately. Sully's biggest fault is he rarely plays young guys looking to crack the lineup, instead he loyally sticks with too many guys who had great careers but are ready for the pasture. Carter, Dumoulin, for example, and other players who could benefit from a healthy scratch or two (Rust) really should sit and let these few prospects we have at least show what they can do. Nylander, Puustinen, O'Connor, couldn't do worse than the current lineup that is costing us wins because they are three steps too slow. Notice how many goals against lately with those mentioned above were on the ice and out of position. Happens way too often, but Sully keeps playing them. When you've only won ONE division game in your last 12, something's gotta change.

I don't pay much attention to the NHL these days but I decided to take a peek today. I see nothing has really changed, the Pens are still beating the Flyers.
That made me smile.

Briere was a great player here. Fans are still chafed that they let him go. It will be interesting to see how he does at the managerial level.

Ditto here. Briere came up in the Coyotes' system and did well here. Then the Yotes traded him for Chris Gratton, who lasted a year here before they sent him off to Colorado. (At least we got Derek Morris and Keith Ballard in that deal.)

I agree 1000%. I love Sully. He's been tremendous, but he should be shouldering a LOT more of the blame for this season than he is, for all the reasons you mentioned. Sometimes his decision making is absolutely baffling. Get Jeff Carter off the ice. Why is he constantly on the ice at the end of a period, directly after a Pens goal, or any other time this team gives up stupid goals. It's tough to say the winningest coach in team history should be let go but my goodness it's starting to be difficult NOT to say it.
