NHL Season 2022-23

Yeah, ESPN's overall coverage of hockey is puzzling. They pay all that money for games then bury the stuff where you can't find it or can't watch it. Make you pay extra to see the games, then can't watch your local team anyway. I get that that is not all on ESPN, but the NHL needs a major overhaul in the way they televise or stream games. Luckily there's a great streaming site out there to watch the games.

ESPN's game broadcasters are pretty darn bad. I like the studio coverage most times with Buchi, Messier, etc. I don't love PK but I don't hate him either. Leah Hextall is another level of bad when she's on play by play. She's not quite as awful between the benches but not good either.

Oh and I would complain about the Pens but I'd just be repeating whats been said all season. The last two games against the Rangers were embarrassing. Sully is either clueless or in major denial about his team at this point.
Latest conspiracy theory is Sullivan is deliberately playing crappy players in order to hopefully get GM Hextall fired. I don't believe that for a minute but I admit some of Sully's moves (or lack thereof) makes one scratch their head as to what he actually IS thinking. :eyebrow:

It's really difficult to believe that a coach that has won as much as Mike Sullivan has doesn't see the things happening on the ice that everyone else sees. Keeping Carter in the lineup b/c he's good at face offs? WHAT? He's winning what, one more face off PER GAME than his opponent. C'mon. I hadn't heard that particular theory but I hope that's the case, otherwise what is he doing?

Just saw Petersson is on LTIR now. Along with Petry and Kulikov. I don't think this team makes the playoffs. I had hope again briefly after they waived Kapenan and starting playing better, but after these two games against NYR I have little faith. I knew they'd never catch the Rangers, but I'm not even sure they can fend off Florida at this point.

haha. That is fair.

Pens dominated Ottawa, peppered their unknown goalie with 49 shots on goal. And lost 2-1. Team is snake-bitten. Play crappy and lose, play great and lose.

Hope they've started lining up tee times for April, as it doesn't appear they'll be needing their hockey gear then.

Zero puck luck this year. 49 shots on goal. Unreal. Jarry saw 21 shots. Doesn't get any easier the rest of the week.

Jeff Carter with two goals in a big win for the Pens in Colorado. Yeah, you read that right. Scored two and was a plus-1. I've always said he was a good asset for the team! ;):D

All kidding aside, I'm happy for the guy. As much as we bang on him for his sharply declining performance on the ice, he's a good team guy and deserved a break. Here's hoping he can build on this and doesn't go -3 in the next game.

For us Pens fans, Florida is picking the right time to take a dump, losing four in a row. Three points ahead with one game in hand...all we have to do is win a few of these upcoming winnable games while the Panthers keep losing and seal that last wild card slot. Still keeping an eye on Buffalo, they're not giving up just yet, either.

Easier said than done, though, with this Pens squad. Never know what the goaltending will be on any given night.
