NHL Season 2022-23

Well, the Cinderella story is over for this year. But the Kraken definitely put themselves on the map, and on the minds of hockey fans across North America. Pushing two series to the full seven games, and doing it with a style of play that is perfectly tailored to their skill set, up and down the lineup. Hats off to coach Hakstol and GM Francis. The future is looking bright in Seattle.

Ugly unis though....should have gone with the Thunderbirds name and uniform....

Then what would the current Thunderbirds, who are still alive in the WHL playoffs, wear?
Game three tonight by the way against Winnipeg for the WHL Championship in Kent, series tied 1-1.
Interestingly, one of the top prospects for the Winnipeg NHL team scored twice for Seattle in game two, including the game winner.
The winner of the WHL Championship will go on to play in the Memorial Cup. A tournament featuring great Canadian, and occasionally USA, junior hockey teams and players.
I was hoping they'd go back in time and bring back the Totems for the Seattle NHL team. Not that I remember that team, but it still would have been great in my opinion.
I have yet to attend a Kraken game, but we're all in with the Thunderbirds. Partly because parking at the arena is free, we can get two tickets for $30, and on Tuesdays they offer a few concessions for $2 each. That, and all we had for years for hockey around here was the Thunderbirds, so those were the games we always went to.

And good luck to them being able to secure any free agents (not that they are likely to do so) to work in that environment!

C'mon now! We don't need any Free Agents since we have everybody else's bad contracts coming here. For the cost of an extra draft pick, we'll take that over-the hill and overpaid underachiever off your hands. :D

All joking aside, as a long time Coyote fan I'm at my wit's end. Despite some of the criticism that we hear, not all of it is 100% accurate. The team didn't draw as poorly (in the full-size arena) as some of you seem to believe. (Yeah, the current Mullett Arena isn't a NHL-caliber arena, but it was a temporary solution due to the City of Glendale acting like idiots and not renewing the lease at the Glendale Arena at the last minute.) And the team was more competitive than a lot of knowledgeable fans are aware of. Despite being picked my most to finish dead last, they actually finished above five other teams this past season, including the vaunted Canadiens and Blackhawks.

But I'm at the point that I would not be averse to the team leaving. Just tired of the whole thing. Problem is, where would be better? Quebec? Tremendously passionate fans but there's more than one reason the NHL hasn't gone back there. Atlanta? They've had TWO other NHL franchises that couldn't make it work. Houston or Kansas City may be the best bets but no guarantee the fan base would stick around after the novelty wore off. Hamilton would be the best spot hockey-wise, but I don't see that happening.

Personally I think the name Kansas City Chiefs has a nice ring to it
