And that's 11 y/o. I think the problem is that they can't win the cup for Christmas-wrong time of year.
I sent a text to Gary Bettman today and asked him to only play the Winter Classic in actual winter-y cities.
It was 63 in Seattle today and will remain in the 50's through the weekend. Not hardly winter, or outdoor ice hockey weather.

The unavoidable corollary to that, though, is to only *play* hockey in "winter-y" cities.
Once they played the WC in Dallas I think pretty much all bets became off as to location.
I very much agree, but he totally ignored my text about removing teams from sunny and warm cities and moving them to cities where they belong.
I had it all mapped out and even offered free use of my pickup to help move equipment and office supplies. Snubbed me.

Sorry to jump in so late. This may have been a blessing for me and you given what the Bruin's fast start would have done to the Unsufferabilty Quotient of my posts here.
Even with the latest rough patch (since halted by Buffalo), the B's have exceeded my expectations given the retirements of Bergeron and Krejci.
I'm going to the game next Thursday against the Pens. Looking forward to seeing Crosby play as he is a generational talent. It's on ESPN, so I'll wave to you all.

At the risk of jinxing the Bruins, they are on a nice 4-game winning streak that started after the Christmas break. For context they were a listless 1-2-3 in the six games preceding the break. Jake DeBrusk in particular must have spent part of the break in the Juvenation Machine or perhaps putting him together with Coyle and Marchand has does wonders for his concentration, speed, creativity, and compete level. He had no goals/no assists in the 6 games pre-break and 2 goals/4 assists in the 4 games after. Pre-break he was on pace for 11 goals/19 assists; now he is on pace for 14 goals/25 assists. If he can extend his point streak, I am hoping he will deliver the 25-30 goals and 30+ assists that the B's are paying $4,000,000 for.
Wow! Great game in the World Juniors...USA came back against a great Finnish team and now play Sweden for the gold!
4-2 Pens after the first. Swayman let in one soft one, but the rest were tipped or legit goalscorer goals. Lots of hockey left to play.
5-4 Pens after 2 periods. Pens are killing us at the dot and are skating noticeably faster than us. B's are clawing back but the Pens are flying.
ETA - because I forgot to add any actual content to my post.
It was the most fun I've had at a sporting event where my home team lost.
This game had everything - Crosby powerplay goals, Marchand shortie, Pasta fake-the-goalie-out-of-his-jock, various flavors of intentional and unintentional tips and redirects, snipes, circus saves, crazy bounces of the walls and stanchions, the list goes on.
Besides the speed of the game, the other things that stood out live vs watching at home were:
1. how much the puck bounces, tumbles, and rolls.
2. how often players can hit a flying puck with their stick while skating and more often than not it goes where they want it to go.
3. how much snow the players create that the ice crews scoop up on TV timeouts.
