Team Canada might want to consider a goalie change up!

I suggested as much to one of my Canadian friends this morning.
I got some kind of mumbled Albertan profanity in return
Now that said, this sets up the Can-Fin game on Monday to be good one
Although I still question the timing of this event, it certainly has been more exciting than I anticipated. 
Was an interesting ploy by Sullivan in the third period, doing what they call in soccer as 'parking the bus'. Basically staying back and playing all defense to hold the lead, with virtually no offense whatsoever. It worked, although it wasn't the most exciting period to watch. Makes me wonder if the Penguins actually had a good goalie and a legit NHL defense, he'd employ that tactic more often.

Penguins longtime radio man Mike Lange passed away at 76. One of the legends of the booth, full of unique sayings and metaphors that colored any broadcast he did.
In my youth (8th grade, mid-1970s), we'd roll our eyes and make fun of him and his corny comments. Over the next couple of years as I grew up and matured did I realize what a gem behind the mic this guy was. Although retired for a few years, his legacy will live on. RIP.

This is the first game of hockey I've watched in weeks. It's been pretty exciting. Strong push by Canada at the end of the third… but not good enough to win it. Off to overtime we go! 
Watched the whole game in regulation, but couldn't last for OT.
A lot of missed opportunities by both teams. Overall, this game wasn't as free-flowing as I'd expected, almost seemed like too many guys were playing tentatively, not wanting to make a mistake versus going all out taking a chance. Double-edged sword, I know.
It was cool to see a lot of players that I don't get to see too often. Jacob Slavin perhaps made the biggest impression on me with his defensive work. Not gonna get the headlines or highlights, but what a rock solid performance by him.
I wonder if this tourney will work down the road with more teams, notably Russia and Slovakia. The Six Nations doesn't have the same ring to it.

I was impressed with Slavin's play as well. Having not followed hockey very closely the last several years, Slavin was one of many non-household-name guys on both teams that I didn't recognize. His play on D really stood out.
For the Canadian side, it looked to me like a lack of familiarity amongst the players might have been part of the problem. No doubt there were some nerves as well. But some of the late / off-target passes, for example, looked to me more like guys just not being super used to playing with each other yet. Handful of what would have been very nice scoring opportunities were missed because of disconnects like that.
Completely agree with your assessment of the unfamiliarity. As I'm watching the game, I reminded myself these are the best hockey players in the world, but nobody looked 'connected' with their linemates (on both teams). The fact that Sullivan kept changing up the lines didn't help the US gain any continuity.
Anyone still prefer the old All Star skills competition and shinny game?
