NHL Season 2024-25

Saturday, the Pens outplay the Caps for the first 30 minutes, then the wheels fall completely off. A 2-2 game quickly became 7-2 over an eight-minute span in the 2nd, final score 8-3 Caps. At least they kept Ovechkin off the board.

Sunday, once again, had a 3-2 third period lead as they outplayed and outshot the Rangers 39-16, but unfortunately five of those 16 shots found the twine. Another one in the 'L' column.

I'm ready to bring in that emergency backup goalie the Leafs used a while back (David Ayres).

Wow, Bruins up 3-0 at home, and end losing 5-4. Sounds like they borrowed a page from the Penguins' playbook. :smug:

Speaking of, my boys got whomped in Philly last night, 6-1. The first of a home-and-home with the Flyers, who always seem to have an easy time in the Pens' barn ever since it opened in 2010. Of course, most opponents seem to have an easy time against the Pens lately. Don't agree with PK Subban often, but what he said about the team this past weekend was spot on...

Malkin has four points, including the game-tying and game-winning goal in OT. That's after the Pens found themselves down 3-0 in their own building. Character comeback to win 5-4. Too bad this comes in game 61 instead of earlier on in the season, as they could build off this. And it never hurts when Torts gets PO'ed about something.

Bedard has no points in six games, though the Blackhawks match their second-longest winning streak of the season with two, and also scored five in their loss before that. Weird combination of events, but doesn't feel like cause for alarm.
