While we're somewhat on the subject, those two salary dumps that Dubas picked up have really shined in the short time they've been in the 'burgh.

Dewar had 1 G over his past 54 GP in Toronto...in Pittsburgh he has 3 G in 4 GP.

Timmins also has three points in four games, and is a +7.

Nobody expects them to keep playing at that pace, but with the season the Pens are having, any positive aspects are worth highlighting. Sure, it's a small sample at the end of the season, with no pressure of a playoff fight, but they're playing hard for next season's contracts. Like what I've seen so far.

Leafs are #9 team in the league right now! Practically guaranteed a shot at embarassing themselves in the post-season again (that's more than can be said for my other faves - Canucks and Rangers ... both on the outside looking in...)

Flyers are so terrible this year they might as well just go ahead and lose out the rest of the season. A lot of people are calling for Tortorellla to be fired. I think he has one year left on his contract, so they'll probably bring him back to see what happens next year. But whomever they ultimately get needs to know how to get them out of the losing mindset. As a fan since the mid-'70s it's sad to see them this bad for this long.

I've gone to see the Wild play twice this year (it's a 4+ hour drive one way) and they have lost both times. They are just a typical Minnesota sports team. They just can't make it to the post season or past round 1 if they do. The only Minnesota teams that seem to have post season success are women's teams.

It's nice to see the Jets still at the top of the Western Conference. They beat the Caps last night who are of course tops in the East. Never know what will happen in the Playoffs, but that would be an interesting Cup Final match up!

What isn't nice is that I can't seem to ever watch the Jets play. Why are their games blacked out on my TV when I live in Southwestern Ontario? o_O I've hit the blackout screen a few times this winter when I had the chance to tune in to a game.

That, and the high school hockey all-mullet team. That's probably Minnesota's greatest sports success.

They want you to pay for the NHL package when you are not local. As always, follow the dollar!

Yeah, these blackout rules really suck. Since the Coyotes relocated, we get many of the VGK games on a local affiliate, and sometimes the Utah games on that same station. So that sort of explains why those two teams games are blacked out when they're on NHL Network, but they're also blacked out even when they're NOT running on the local affiliate. And even when it's NHL Network Bonus Coverage where they join in for the last 10 minutes of a game, it also gets blacked out here.

But for some reason, anytime the Avalanche are on NHLN, we get the familiar blackout screen, despite the fact that the Avs aren't carried locally at all. All of a sudden we're considered a market for THREE teams! And because of that, we're actually getting LESS televised hockey due to all these blackout rules. :rage:
