I have a Roscoe fretless 6 that I got for a discount because the neck was sanded so thin that the graphite reinforcement began to show. cant be seen while you play and is as smooth as the rest of the neck. bass plays like a sports car and many find it to be "too fretless". sounds incredible.

'96 Stingray 20th Anniversary and '95 Lakland 4-94 necks are a very close tie for 2nd. (Both Maple boards)

'04 Skyline JO is 4th (over '98 US JO !) (Both maple, too)

Pre-Gibson Tobias 6string.

One thing Gibson did NOT change about the Tobias bass was the neck. The adjective "pre-Gibson" adds no useful information, indicating only that some people consider Gibson's bad reputation more important than the actual instrument.

To the best of my knowledge, Mike Tobias's neck shape hasn't ever changed from his original design, making pre-Gibson, post-Gibson, and MTD necks all shaped alike. I agree this is a great shape, very comfortable and easy.

My 55-02 has the best ever! That's the 55-94 neck too, obviously.

The Yamaha TRB6-p neck was so incredible too, wish I never got rid of that bass!

I have to admit that I love the feel of the bongo 5 neck and that finish is just right for me.

I've never played a Gibson Tobias.

When I bought mine in '87 (or '88?) Mike had me come down to the shop to fit the neck to my hand. Which, when it was done, took the O... M... F...G... experience a step higher.
I was speaking of *that* bass.

But they were all pretty awesome.

Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling, hands down. Now if they'd only put a Sterling profile neck on a Bongo, I'd be in heaven.

+ like 10,000 my '96 Sterlings neck is by far the best neck i've ever played.. but if Sterling Ball put a Sterling neck on a Bongo..... it would be like Game Over,, all you other companies can just stop production now,, like how could you possibly compete ??

The nicest neck is on my Jolana Diamant.

I can't beleive you find this the nicest neck. Even thou it's short scale it is a preaty thick neck.

I love the big neck on my '75, but it wouldn't work for a lot of people.

Stambaugh. Four lane-freway wide, thinner than a business card. He's built me two 6's & a 7 w/similar dimensions. Mind you, this is what I asked for; if I spec'd 'late model Warwick ovangkol log' I'm sure he could do that too.
