The drummer in this particularly video, Rob Humphreys, is one of the better session drummers in all of Los Angeles: for this kind of pocket/percussion heavy style, he’s probably the best I’ve ever personally worked with.

I’ve been primarily inspired by songwriting and production lately myself: the two most recent EP’s Machine has produced (Post Profit and unpeople respectively) have been pretty incredible on both fronts.

The most recent record I heard this year that made me go “godDAYUM” on the musicianship front was the new Night Verses album: the production on that album is fantastic as well.

I didn’t know that, good on them!

No chance that Patreon has made them a thousand million dollars in net profit, but they’ve likely created generational wealth for themselves.

That’s a massive accomplishment in any industry, but particularly in this one.

No doubt it’s nice having the financial freedom to hang out in the studio with your friends on a regular basis just to have fun and record ripping covers!

If generating income was of no concern for me I’d very likely be doing the same.

As soon as I listened to this about 10 times I just thought "holy ****. I need to find an instructor/teacher and take lessons so I can play just like that."

I've never felt more motivated to play/learn since I've been playing for the past year.

I come from mainly rock / metal roots as far as my music taste, so this is very different than what I usually get into, but man I just had a shift in what direction I want to go.

That’s actually the most amazing thing in this thread.

The CA musicians union is either fully inept, corrupt, or both for not being able to accomplish what those gentlemen did.

Musician's Union was in favor of AB5. It's more beneficial for someone in the union but most of us aren't. Local 47 has its perks but also so many local performance venues just don't operate that way. AB5 was well intentioned to protect people like Lyft drivers from being exploited but it's a different beast with musicians.

Glad for all involved here.

Yeah, AB5 was well intended poorly executed.

Song as old as time unfortunately.

Not to quibble, but the valuation of the company being $4 Billion, doesn't mean Conte is actually worth that. His net worth (acording to this article) was $5 million as of 2022. The company's valuation was $4 Billion in 2021, but it appears there have been some big issues since then, and estimates that it lost almost 70% of its valuation post COVID. Nevertheless, he is certainly worth a big chunk of change, and I am happy to see quality musicians actually making the big bucks. Kudos to him for figuring out how to monetize the thing he loves to do.
