Yep, his name is Jack Conte. He is the co-founder and CEO of Patreon. I'm not sure Nataly Dawn (his wife) is actually an owner of Patreon though. It was formed before they were married, and I can't find any reference to her having any ownership of it.

Calling what he’s doing on this song “not overly complicated” is seriously underselling the depth of technique and feel on display in this performance.

Agreed.

That’s generally a trait of the greatest talents: to make something fairly complex appear very simple.

The drummer Rob, and other guys like Nate Smith, are great examples of the same thing: nothing they play is ever technically complex, but the way they make it feel is wildly deep and borderline inimitable.

In the back half of this song Nick is even improvising fills with 16ths and triplets within the same bar, with ease, while maintaining absolutely flawless pocket and vibrato.

Even a funk icon like Bootsy or Rocco would likely struggle to execute what Nick is playing here at the level he is.

It’s way beyond “just funk”.

As great as his playing is....you better not do it at your local bar gig with your typical guitarist/singersongwriter/cover band. They'll complain you're "overplaying".
