If you're recording the direct signal only it makes no sense to monitor through the amp, since that sound isn't what you're actually recording: the speaker itself effects the sound dramatically, and the line out will sound markedly different.

Use your monitors, that's what they're there for

It's a modelling amp (including speaker sim), so the speaker may well be pretty uncoloured, or the modelling designed to work with it.

But I am still not 100% what the OP is trying to achieve, but speaker simulated output over USB seems to be possible from this amp.

Yeah, this strikes me as a non-solution...but that said, It's the first thing I thought of.

One of the reasons I chose the Fender Rumble Studio was all the dedicated outs and loops:

Page 1 of your owners manual:

1. USB
Connect via USB to use CODE as a DAW interface...

To record with CODE using your DAW:
• Connect to your computer via USB.
• Select your CODE amplifier as the input
source on your computer and within
your DAW.

Your other options are:
1) Use the headphone output (which mutes the speaker).
2) Take it apart and connect a DI with speaker level input between the amp and speaker.
3) Mic it.
4) Buy a different amp.

Yes; it's not a photo of my amp, it's a photo clipped from Fender's website. So that's probably a production prototype, or even a rendering.

There are countless completely 100% free guitar amp plugins you can download that will work in various DAW's that would likely sound on par or better, if spending money isn't your priority.

I will caution that it will sound harsh and bright because it's a full spectrum signal with way more highs than what you will hear coming out of your bass amp, because a bass speaker will naturally suppress high frequencies.

It's for guitar, not bass.

This does not solve his problem.
OP wants AMP TONE in his Recording and through his amp's speaker at the same time. This will not give AMP TONE into the computer.


How will this work?

If he could run the amp's output into the DI box, then to his speaker, why would this not solve his problem?

His only output besides USB is Headphones that Mutes the Combo's Speaker.
Once plugged into Headphones there is no amp speaker for audio.

Hi, I have a Marshall Code 50 for when I use my guitar and there is no line out for me to plug into my audio interface, there is only a headphone out, phone in, and footswitch. Is there any way around this? Thanks.

You should be able to use the head phone out into a direct box, unless it cuts of the feed to your speaker,

On a related note, I have older Traynor tube amps with only speaker outputs. Somehow this thread inspired me to finally figure out that it is easy as can be to get a clean signal directly off the amp by running a second signal to the speaker level input of my DI box.

Of course the amp still has to run to a cab so that it sees a proper load. The YSR-1 sounds really great this way at least for a clean guitar or bass sound. I had tried something before taking the level down using a simple voltage divider circuit on the output, but I got line hum from shared ground paths.

I tried out the built in audio interface in the amp and there are no settings for it and no software from Marshall for it. It sounds alright.
