No serial number.What's that mean?

I've got a Tony Franklin prototype, purchased from one of the Fender Product Managers and it's got no serial # anywhere. The neck plate says "Corona California", nothing on the neck. The original owner said that I can find something in the neck pocket but I never bothered to look. it's a beautiful bass; looks as if yours is also so enjoy it!
I have two custom made basses, neither of which have serial numbers. No problem as they are each quite unique and having a S/N on them make no difference, really.
EBMM basses have their serial numbers on the bridge. That said, it seems pretty clear that this instrument just doesn't have one. Oh well. Time to get out the branding iron!
There are no degrees of uniqueness. It's either unique or it's not. Binary. One or the other.
Serial # in Manufacturing world is used to be able to track down items sold that have some issues if they need to be pulled from the shelves or returned by consumers. That being said no serial # gives you very little traceability if there is an issue. Not only guitars which we use to date them, but other items you come across in your daily life.To me no serial # or batch code = you get what you pay for good or bad with no liability held by the manufacture of the product and as a importer with all of its production and sales located in another country, if they were stamped and had issues they would need to be shipped back either at the consumer's expense or the manufacturer's expense and the changes of either eating that shipping cost are zero. So it is like buying a car as is. If the product works and you are happy with it that's as good as it gets. hope this helps you to move on.

My conclusion is this:
The Wolf basses that are shown at NAMM(which is what I have) are demo models.
Not production models.
I am assuming that if I were to order a Wolf bass direct from KHL.Co in S.Korea,that it would have a serial number.
I don't know.
Now,what I wonder is whether U.S. based manufacturers at NAMM follow the same practices.

Well, if it's stolen and removed, the removal ought to have left some trace. This sounds more like inside or never was...

They may not put serial #s on themselves if they see themselves as a "wholesaler", expecting whoever's putting their brand name on it (eg, RavenWest) to do so? Just guessing.
So - is it nice? I see them on ebay quite frequently, sometimes quite tempting. Not that I have room for more basses just now - I keep misplacing them!
