No serial number.What's that mean?

To be honest, it's just a suspicion to me too.

Now the question remains:since KHL.Co sells unbranded Wolf basses to Woodo HK,and RavenWest,do these three put serial numbers on their basses?There might be an answer to this,but the owners of those basses are quite silent.Gauging from the response to my Wolf thread.

Not that it's the case here, but some mfrs put the serial number on the inside of the control cavity cover too.

IF you can not find a serial number anywhere on the bass and IF there are other basses just like this one without a serial number and IF you can get no answer from the manufacturer, I think you would have to assume the simplest explanation: They chose not to serialize them. Why? That's another story.

Dunno why they wouldn't put some kind of sequence or serial number, that's a puzzle... but for security's sake, I'd probably hide a number on or in your bass somewhere, in case you ever need to positively identify it.

I DON"T KNOW! business practices regarding OEM manufacturing.

It can really vary. For instance, you can get in touch with EBMM, give them a serial number, and find out exactly what day your instrument was completed, what color it was, etc. On the flip side, you have manufacturers like Peavey in the late 70's. They didn't keep records back then, so the best you can usually do with a T-60, T-40, etc. is get it narrowed down to the year it was made based on info on the Internet discovered independently. Then, as some have mentioned, you have some instruments that just don't get numbered for whatever reason.

In the absence of a serial number, I'd suggest doing something like putting your initials on the back of one of the pots with a Sharpie just so you can positively identify the instrument if it's ever stolen.

OK.Let's turn that around.Why do most instruments have serial numbers?Why is it important for makers to have one?
That's why!

If a company provides a warranty, they need a way to ID each instrument. If they don't, I can't think of a reason why it's important for them to do so.

I do that with all my basses.The inside of the control cavity cover is usually shielded.I will write my name and date the bass was bought.

to get more .OEM order from big manufacture. So .. They did mark serial number. But now on We are going to mark

to show these basses inspected and modified by here all in one guitar.

Our guitar and bass are totally different from ones where you have obtained last year.
