Noble Amps Preamp

image.jpeg
Just arrived today and I'm Super excited to try it out◡̈ Picture of it on the board while I was resetting up!

Big thank you to Jack @ noble amps for being so patient and professional. Definitely top notch customer service and product quality

I continue to follow this product, as I have from the beginning. I actually have a Demeter Minnie 800D for which this preamp is very close to what I am looking for. BUT, there are two aspects of the topology that aren't making it for my purposes. No tuner out. No mute button.

The preamp is clearly tailored for use on a pedal board. That's great for pedal board folks. I don't use one and strongly prefer not to have my signal going through a chain of switches and stuff any more than necessary. No offense intended, just not my thing.

So, I'll keep watching. Need the tuner out and mute button.

Wouldn't a small A/B box in front of the Noble be one way to resolve both of your wishes?

What tuner are you using?

Just had rehearsal tonight, first official live work with the Noble. I also had a new Cali76-TX plus I still hadn't yet used my 64 Audio IEMs yet, so my tone was completely different from what I've been used to. I pushed the bass ever so slightly on the Noble, everything else was clean and minimal. I thought the tone sounded just amazing. Guitar player also commented on it saying it sounded 'nice and thick'

Use a pedal tuner with a high quality buffer or true bypass. You get a tuner, a mute, and no signal degradation.

My Sadowsky Outboard preamp for $275 has a Tuner Out and Mute button. My GB Shuttle 9.0, which cost $700, has a Tuner Out and Mute button. Both of those are less pricey than the Noble. So, it doesn't seem that the feature is cost prohibitive.

We don't seem to be discussing a cost or technical issue. I suppose this is almost a cultural thing. I am aware that I can put a tuner in line with my signal path. I prefer not to do that, because I prefer a simpler signal path with less that can go wrong. OTOH, I respect that folks using pedal boards will choose to go a different route. To me, this is simply a different strokes thing.

I should add that my two racks do have in line tuners. But in that case, my tuner is incorporated into the rack power supply.

I like to have a mute and tuner out as well. The Noble is designed primarily for use on a pedal board, where you'd likely find a tuner as well. I get it. But very not for me.

its a shame it was designed for such a tight niche, but there are tons of options, some of which are arguably as good, and not arguably way cheaper. I wouldn't be too surprised to see another form of the Noble.

I love a deal as much as the next guy but sometimes you've got bite the bullet and pay for the best.

I've found the combination of sound, size, function and built-in power supply of the Noble to be unrivaled. Never thought about the price again after I started using it. Buy once, cry once personified..

This the way I look at it. I'm not as seasoned as many on here, but the sound coming from this little box of awesome makes me forget what I paid for it.
It's literally the sound I've wanted since I started playing.
A big thanks to Jack!!

I tested my signal in the studio through the Noble with no pedals and then through my pedal chain which is now a Boss TU-2, Pigtronix Comp,OC-2, 5th gear, Fuzzolo, MXR filter and Corona Chorus.

There is zero signal degradation or loss. Nothing even close to worrying about, and I am really picky about that stuff. I would never want the Noble to be a mute or tuner. I don't want my foot anywhere near it.

I have toured, gigged and rehearsed with my TU-2 for 20 years and it's the perfect tuner and mute. Nothing beats the boss build if you need something to have your foot on a lot. That's not what the Noble is about to me. It's not a foot pedal.

...and strongly prefer not to have my signal going through a chain of switches and stuff any more than necessary. ...

This is likely the designer's thought also. Why put things on a DI that can break? Keep it simple. Personally, I would prefer the tuner external to the unit and I can use it as a mute switch. Also, the unit is taller than most pedals and I don't think I'd want a switch that high (relative to other footswitches - I wouldn't need a step ladder.)

I believe your preferences you are describing are relative to a preamp you are going to use on a pedal board, no? I had stated earlier that I am mainly looking for the tuner out/mute features because the preamp I am looking for would sit on top of my Demeter Minnie 800. On top of the cab. Different thing going on. Yes, the current design serves those who are putting the unit on a pedal board. I'm not questioning that. I don't use a pedal board. I just want a small format preamp.

And, the mute switch is typically on the side of the box next to the input jack. Yes, I realize that feature would make zero sense on a pedal board. But, it would not be in the way either.
