This gets me so much, with so little.. plus my G30 wireless tucked underneath
Fits in a Mono TICK that strats to my Vertigo. Love it!

Up until now I had only run my Noble into the main input jack on my Markbass LMIII. Today I tried running it through my GK Fusion 800 with very different results. When running into the FX return on the GK amp I get a MUCH better result and no longer miss the lack of a mid control(s). Evidently, the Markbass amp (and/or cabs) have more of a signature tone than I thought (even with knobs set flat).

IIRC MarkBass effects loops are not independent of the preamp (they run series or parallel - can't remember which). Even with the amp set flat there's bound to be some coloration. If you tweak a knob on their pre it will have an effect even though you're plugged in to your external pre (Noble in this case).

I've been messing with a compressor for months now but I just don't seem to hear the need for it through the Noble.
I find myself tracking with it off a lot more often. I think the Tubes of the Noble do enough compression on their own.

Definitely. Although I really like what I'm hearing since getting my Empress compressor and going the "parallel" (aka New York) route. High compression with low blend, quick release/slow attack. Really ads some punch and thickness to the Noble'a amazeballs tone.
Yeah, I parallel mine as well. It is a nice tone, but I think the extra punch and thickness is overkill for me. I am real sensitive to that though. For example I really love the tight bottom and dry response of a Pbass. On the Noble, I just boost the bass and treble a hair and that's my tone. I've always been one to like things nice and flat with just a touch of boost on the highs and lows.
Looking at getting a stingray classic and will probably run that with some slight onboard boost, and no EQ boost on the Noble.
BTW, this Kustom amp sounds incredible. I spent $300 on it and I like it more than a Tonehammer. Highly recommend to anyone who needs an amp to pair with the Noble.

Sold an Empress and Cali76cb for the very same reason. I figured that live it isn't gonna be missed and I know a few soundguys that would give me some comp if I asked for it and in the studio it's already taken care of. Less for me to think about and drag around.
Plus I just opened up an 18v spot on my power supply. Just in time for my VT.
My Noble's one year birthday is coming up later this month! We did around 175 shows and sessions last year, as well as a ton of practicing and learning tunes. Mine has performed flawlessly and sounded amazing no matter the situation.
For reference, I run mine with a NY Sadowsky JJ (sometimes AMDLX Dimesnion V) into the front end of a Mesa D800 through a Berg AE210 or AE410 (sometimes both). I still use a comp but I agree with @AngelCrusher that the parallel compression gets to be a little too much in some cases. I mainly stick with the Cali CB because I just really like the 1176 sound on bass and it gets really close, especially when using the HPF. I keep it set pretty moderately most of the time.
Anyway, happy birthday to my Noble and heres to many more!

I had two compressors (MXR and Markbass). Sold the MXR. Markbass is sitting in a gig bag along with an EQ pedal and a couple of other tools.
Actually the proton is an envelope filter. I've had a bunch, including its big brother the wonderlove, and I keep coming back to it. I'm definitely drawn to the mutron sound and I like 3 Leaf's take on it. I've actually owned each of the 3 versions and they all improved on the last. That dude is a great pedal builder!
Awesome. Yeah i brain farted and mistyped when i meant filter. I really love the sound of that filter a lot.
Jack delivered my Noble in time for Christmas and I've used the preamp at 3-4 church services. We have a totally ampless stage with IEMs and I got the Noble to give me tone and character as my sound was fairly sterile in my IEMs. This thing is awesome and I absolutely love it!
I have great sounding basses (Fretted and Fretless Sadowsky USA 5 strings and a '65 Jazz bass) and my goal is to clearly reproduce the sound and dynamics of my instruments and add a touch of tube warmth and character. The Noble does that in spades. I only use a touch of eq (9:00 on the bass and the treble knobs) and the sound is full and rich.
I also just started using an Origin Effects Compact Bass compressor pedal which is the best bass compressor I have owned. I think every bass compressor needs to have a parallel mode. Getting the full tone and dynamics of the dry signal and then adding the punch of the hard compressed signal is the best of both worlds. As others have said, I find I need less compression when it is paired with the Noble.
Overall, this is the best ampless signal path I have ever played through. The sound is full, tight, warm and natural. Jack is a genius (and also a really nice guy).
