Welcome to the clubhouse, Bruce!
BTW, I don't see too many FELiX preamps in the wild. I have the little brother, ALiX, which I use primarily for my upright.
I was in the studio yesterday doing some preproduction. Until then I've mainly played my 5 string Nordy P bass with flats through the Noble and have only ever recorded with this combo. It's a winning combination for sure.
Several of the tunes yesterday called for a different tone so I broke out my Alleva Coppolo LG5 and my 6 String Fodera emperor standard. I was really happy with the tones. I was able to pull a fat growly tone from the LG5 by cranking the Nobles bass control with the HPF on while the fodera gave a nice rock p bass vibe using the neck pickup and slightly less bass boost from the noble. All in all I was stoked with the tones.
Hopefully some of you can report back on similar tones from non p basses. So many Noble owners seem to favour the p but it's just such a versatile piece of gear that all our basses deserve a go!
Cheers
Ben
Best way I use the Noble with an active bass is to get the bass's EQ set so the low mids are punching how I want them, and then I use the Noble EQ to boost the bass and treble in. I usually don't go much past 9 o clock. Basically it gives me a more modern slap sound without scooping the mids. Allows me to play fingerstyle and throw in slap without needing to hit an EQ pedal or change my tone up.
I'm running a Grizzly Bass, although I'm not sure that'll work size wise for you...
Soooooo.....What kind of lo-gain OD you guys putting before your Noble?
I'd put my THDI in front of it but there's no room on my board! I need a "standard"-ish sized pedal.

I really like the Agro with a low Saturation setting. Anybody have experience with the Agro?
Yeah, it's probably too big.
Looks like a lot of people are spitting out the Kool-Aid. Uh ohGreat week to score a used Noble!

Have you tried a Barbershop or Blueberry?
What sort of drive are you looking for?
I used to have a Grizzly Bass in my chain (and liked it), but recently switched to the Source Audio AfterShock, mostly for the programmability, size, and ability to jump between 3 presets at the flick of a switch. While you can certainly get very heavy and crunchy with it, you *can* do lower gain stuff - almost clean boost type of thing.
Size is similar to MXR style pedal.
Southhampton 5th gear is the best low gain OD I've used.
I just bought a Fuzzrocious Demon for high gain OD/Fuzz to put after. Also looked at the Source Audio which I will try if the Demon doesn't work out. I just personally prefer simplicity. The less knobs and features, the better.
OK. That looks cool. Any loss in the low end? And are you able to obtain "unity gain" when engaging it?
