Noble Amps Preamp

I have a GK MB Fusion 800 which is really nice but a little noisy. Tried running the Noble into the FX return. Wow. Very quiet, even with a bit of treble boost. Also had plenty of mids which surprised me a little since I have to crank the upper mids all the way up on the GK - apparently that's what it takes to overcome the scoopy GK voicing.

My pedal rig for this week's run of "Legally Blonde". The Noble is tucked in there under the top tier, along with the Cali-76-CB.

BTW, that's a DIY custom made system I put together this summer - 2 separate pedal boards: 1) main board with BassBone, tuner, Cali-76, and Noble. 2) FX board that runs in the FX loop of the BassBone.

Question for y'all......

How quiet are the non-isolated DC power supplies when compared to the isolodated bricks you've used previously?

How many mA are the 9VDC outlets capable of handling?

Lastly, seems like everyone is using a passive Pee bass with this. Does anybody have any extensive experience using an active 5er with this box.

900 ma. The Noble is dead quiet so no issues there. That was one of the big selling points for me. I am getting crushing tone out of this with my Pbass and flats, which equals more happy clients and more $$. No noise at all, and I have 8 pedals in line before hitting my A/D.

As for active, I ran a Peavey Cirrus through it. I want to buy that Cirrus just to have a 5 string around again. It sounded amazing. I also ran a passive 5 string Moollon through it a lot. No issues there. I run a Musicman Stingray classic through it a lot now - Pbass and Ray are my main two players.

I believe there are some clips in this thread with a 5 string sadowsky. It's really hard to go wrong with a tube preamp.

Like a Spector Euro 5LX AW :)
Haven't had my Noble long, and I've mainly been using it with my Ric 4003, but I've jammed my Spector in it a few times. It's lovely. Haven't recorded or played in a band setting with this combo yet.

I've only heard about noise issues with the Torpedo digital CAB simulator and the Strymon digital delay/reverb pedals. These pedals are like small computers inside and can put out a high frequency "whine" that is picked up by analog pedals through the shared DC ground. If you run just the Torpedo CAB and Noble it will be quiet, similar with any of the Strymon pedals when they are used alone with the Noble. But the moment you add a traditional analog pedal along with the big digital ones that's when the noise issues occur. Aside from these two I do not know of any noise issues due to the non-isolated DC supply, even from other digital-based pedals.

Bottom line, if you're using large digital pedals you'll want an isolated supply for those pedals; analog pedals don't necessarily need to be isolated from each other.
