Noble Amps Preamp

It seems like it is acting like a master FX loop in/out for the octave and Big Muff. So they can be switched in and out of the signal chain, whereas the TU-2 acts as a master mute for everything.

So, not really redundant, in my view.

Give the man a cigar. I'm using the 'master switch' part of it to keep the effects out of the signal chain when they are not in use. At some point I may spring for a fancier loop solution as there are so many cool options now. Same with the tuner and cables. I basically just pulled together stuff I had laying around to get back in the pedalboard game.

Are you running the octave and fuzz together at the same time, one foot press rather than two?

The reason I asked is I'd figure the buffer in the PSM-5 is of lower quality than what's in the MXR and Big Muff. Effectly taking two non problematic pedals out of the chain just for good measure, while dropping in a potentially problematic pedal instead.

If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest setting up your rig in a listening environment and trying it both ways to see how it sounds. You may find you can remove a pedal and gain more room to replace it with something else.

Being able to switch all the effects in at once is def. one of the reasons I prefer a loop pedal, but I've also found in the past that getting turned off pedals out of my chain makes a big difference. I'll be using any effects sparingly, so I'd rather have them out of the chain.

Your point is taken about my possible faulty assumption that the one switch pedal will be less destructive than these two specific turned off effects. I'll check it out.

I got it in, played it on Sunday. Will be recording this week and next week with it.

Picked up a Noble a week or so ago. Finally got around to assembling my board today. My signal is this

Line 6 G70 (wireless receiver) > Sonic Turbo Tuner ST200 > Empress Compressor > Noble.

Whith all three pedals powered by the Noble, I was getting a high pitched white noise sound. I was hoping to not have to use my power supply.

I powered all three pedals with my Walrus Aetos....dead silence.

Anybody else experience noise powering certain pedals with the Noble.

I seem to remember reading that the Noble’s power jacks are not isolated/regulated, and sometimes don’t play well with certain digital pedals. Maybe the G70 is the culprit? Have you tried removing one pedal at a time to narrow it down?

It doesn’t play well with digital pedal pedals and isn’t isolated. The G70 would have been my first thought

I didn’t isolate the G70. My brief troubleshooting led me to just installing the power supply back on the board. I figured there was no reason to delay the inevitable. I can’t live without the G70. So I’ll deal with having a power supply sucking up extra space.

Connected it all together and the Noble powered up the H9 just fine. The only other pedals I'll connect is a VMT for dirt and a small phaser so I should be all set.

As a follow up, I'm not all set. The H9 worked fine by itself but as soon as I connected another pedal, noise all over the place.

Not sure what to do. It kind of defeats the purpose of a small pedal board when you need multiple power feeds. But I don't know if I want to gig without the H9.

So... yeah... was asked to play electric guitar at church... I'm not a guitarist by any means... ever!
Have been beating my brain to death trying to get a decent DI sound for the one guitar I do have ...
I had given up hope..
Just for giggles, ran through this a bit ago at home...

$450 Tele thinline .. :roflmao:
@Jack Roan ... your Noble is simply magic!!
Just a clean sound, no OD , or modulation, I did have my Cali on.. but man!! It worked... quite well!!
Now just to try it at church to FOH.. Oh, that's my D800 and F112 that it's running into

Before I post in classifieds, letting the group know I’m gonna let my Noble bass head go. I had a car accident and insurance totaled my car. I can use the extra money right about now. If interested, PM please.

I've been watching the videos on the Noble YT channel, and while I'm sure this is a great sounding DI for what it is, I think they're being a little disingenuous about the recording process and the quality of the tone on those videos. The sound on those videos is killer, but it seems to me like the main contributor to that tone (other than the excellent playing of course) is the interface and the plug-ins it comes with. I can't hear the Noble adding much more than a touch of EQ and perhaps a little more balance to the overall tone. The rest is all EQ, compression and amp / cab sim. The videos mention that the bass is recorded straight into the Apollo interface, implying that we are hearing a pure clean recording, but the reality is that there is so much more processing going on there than just a straight dry recording. Other videos on YT give a much clearer idea of what the Noble does, and in those videos it comes across as little more than a bass and treble in a big box.

I'm not saying it doesn't sound nice, and I'm a sucker for a nice DI as much as anyone else (I bought the Motown DI which some might say does even less than the Noble..), but I wonder how many people bought the Noble based on those videos expecting that kind of transformation to their recorded tone.

Its a lot more than bass and treble in a box. I have played on a lot of records with it and have used an apollo and not used one. It always adds harmonics and 3d tone. If it didnt id just sell it and take $900.

I'm sure it's great, but I still think those videos are misleading.
If you are sure it is than why did you say that the youtube videos you prefer make it sound like its just a box with bass and treble? That was a little confusing.

There are good demos in this thread, and I think Noble has soundcloud demos from live shows right off the board. I believe the band is a reggae act. You can really hear the character of the box in those.

Also, the Noble videos I saw were made during sessions. So I doubt an engineer is going to want to take the time to strip down all his gear just to make a demo video for the box. The point was to show that guys are bringing these into studios and using them on records. Nothing misleading about that. A tube preamp is really just part of a great chain - great player- great bass- great DI- Great pre and usually a hardware compressor or UAD. This is all pretty standard stuff if you are a session player.

Stripping down what gear? It’s just a couple of plug-ins, takes less than no effort to click those off. There’s no other gear involved according to the descriptions. These are not just ‘fly on the wall’ videos, they’re used as marketing tools, and they’re all using the same interface and plug-ins, they’re not just random sessions. My post was not really about my preference when it comes to tone, it was about honesty when describing and demoing a product. Just my opinion, may not bother you but it’s a little weird from my point of view.

Where do you see that it is actually a couple of plugins that are activated? I just watched the Roots one and there is no mention of that. They said they used a UAD, but they didn't say they used plugins. Personally, I still hear the sound of the Noble in it. I use the same chain and again - a great recorded tone is the sum of it's parts.

Is there a specific video you can link that you are talking about?
