Noble Amps Preamp

Dude, You'll love it. I came from a bassbone ver1, and the headroom alone is worth the price of admission.
I still have the bassbone as a backup, but shudder the thought of going back.

Another question:
Talked to my FOH guy last night, whose opinion I trust. He thought the Noble looked cool, but said he would rather I get a Rupert Neve DI. Reason being that the Neve in his opinion is totally clean and does not color the sound at all. Has anyone compared these two DI's and has an opinion on this question?

The Rupert Neve DI is a nice DI, but it's no Noble... just saying
It’s not the same thing. The Neve is great. It is an excellent DI and if that is all you want, it is a great choice.
The Noble is a tube preamp/DI/EQ and isolated power source.
I have never met a FOH guy that can’t mix a tube preamp. I doubt he would have any problems with it. He is probably trying to save you some cash and get you to use what is familiar to him - which is fine, but it sounds like he has not mixed one.
I can ditto every remark made.. The Noble is just a box of magic. It's perfect in every way, and very easily eq'd at the board... well, IF NEEDED... highly doubtful...
And, I love it so much, that after having to sell my first, I bought another...
Unfortunately, I may be in a position that I may have to sell the one I now have
Agree that some FOH guys just like to use what they know. Mostly because what they know works, and they know how to work with it.

I’ll plop my 2c with the others here.
I’ve had the RNDI and the Noble at the same time. The RNDI is a great DI (although I traded mine for a Mesa SubwayDI for more features per $). The Noble has way more awesomerness. Unfortunately, I don’t have my Noble anymore either, but I’d love to remedy that one day.
I agree with AngelCrusher. If you just need a DI, the Neve is outstanding and a lot less money. I bought the Noble because I wanted a high end tube preamp in small form factor. The world class DI and pedal power are nice bonuses for me.

One of the reasons I bought the RNDI was to do just that with my ‘69 Traynor YBA-1A. Unfortunately I got a lot of the amp fan noise interference in the signal so it didn’t work for my particular circumstance.
Hey thanks for the feedback. I have not tried it yet, but I have a Thunderfunk and Mesa 8:88 that are candidates. However, I have found that chasing-down the "best" preamp/DI is like trying to chase down the "best" girlfriend. Sometimes it doesn't get any better - only different!

Lol. The “best” girlfriend is the one that supports your quest for the “best” Pre/DI and doesn’t give you grief about it. Of course.
This is me doing stupid things with the Noble. I think it does a fairly good job with what Janek Gwizdala calls the baby elephant sound. The headroom is also enough for loopery things, no farty sounds here!
Just got my Noble today. I was very skeptical that there might be some snake oil in all the hype. There isn't! The thing is REALLY good. Now, I haven't tried a REDDI, P51, etc...as they don't fit on a pedal board. But I've tried other tube preamps that ran on 12v DC and had a single tube...there is no comparison!

Nice board. First time I've seen that compressor. What is a "boosting compressor"?
Its a drumloop from the loop loft. Platinum pack if memory serves me.
That's a G-Lab BC-1 optical compressor. I read about it on a thread here. It has three channels...A, B, and C. A and B can be set for different compression levels and the boost control is for make up gain or you can use it as a boost only to push down chain devices into overdrive. Channel C is full comp and full boost so there is no adjustment for it.
It is the quietest compressor I've ever heard. There isn't a big presence here in the USA as G-Lab is a Polish company. But it's a great piece of kit. Even has MIDI capabilities.
