...as I got older and started doing more commercial type gigs, the corporate, wedding, function etc gigs where there just isn't time to be twiddling knobs on stage trying to fine tune the attack time on my compressor and the width of the Q at 760 Hz.......
Out of necessity I developed a new outlook which is simply to have a GOOD tone that WORKS with the band and music, and especially the singers. I learned I don't need to go to 30 Hz, or to 8K either. I came to embrace low mids rather than the scoop, so now I don't need a 1000 watt amp (I know that some of you do and that's fine too). Clear and defined, in the flavor of your choice (jazz, P, whatever...) and I do fiddle but I don't get crazy with the last 5% anymore. This way I can concentrate more on the MUSIC and just playing with some of the best musicians around and having a ball doing it, rather than it being about me, me, me...
