I will throw a few more Canadian acts out there who never quite caught on outside of their native country.

The Tea Party
Pursuit Of Happiness
Gary & Dave
Valdy
Bearfoot

Now, this guy is very popular in French speaking countries.

I'm for CanCon conceptually. What I don't understand is (at least for the radio stations I listened to) the DJs rarely mentioned that so and so artist was Canadian. So for me these artists were American till I read about them or someone told me so. This was the same case for me growing up in Southeast Asia - the radio jocks then didn't say where the artists were from. So during my youth, The Guess Who, BTO, Gino Vanelli, et. al. were US acts till I moved to Canada.

I recall Loverboy got a ton of MTV play with Working For The Weekend.

And the Payolas got pretty good radio play around Chicago with Eyes Of A Stranger.

Klaatu got a lotta FM play in the early seventies. They sounded Beatle-esque, which started rumors that they actually were the Beatles, reformed clandestinely. Wishful thinking.

That's all I got.
