NOT THE TIME FOR SHIPPING!

Just saying, I just finished watching my local news here in Texas, and the news openly stated that now is not a good time for shipping. DUH! Newcaster stated that the price for shipping a pair of shoes was over $35.00, and the possibility of your shipment getting misplaced was over 25%. I am sure this is common knowledge to my Bass Brothers’ but, it is what it is? Happy Holidays!

It was $250 to ship my new bass in from Bellevue, WA to Jackson, MS via UPS. And I all but held my breath the whole time it was in transit.
Once it departed Portland, UPS never updated the progress until it arrived in Jackson 6 days later. And when it was delivered (to girlfriend’s house, she works at home), the driver simply left it on the front porch w/o asking for a signature, even though the tracking plainly said sig required. She heard the truck, looked outside, and asked the driver if she needed to sign for it.

“No, ma’am, I signed for it”

“really? “

“So I could leave it”

“REALLY???”

“Just following instructions, ma’am”
(Very nice and efficient driver, BTW. We’ve been seeing him for a few years)

I feel like it was the luck of the draw that the bass arrived safely, but it did and I’m quite happy.

And now, we’re in another shipping holding pattern. Two computers. One is her new work computer shipped by her new employer. And the other is her new notebook from Best Buy. Shipping info not updated.

Aaargghhhh….

I keep hearing/reading these horror stories but everything we've ordered here has been delivered and in one piece and with no price hike. I have a bass on the way from Iowa to here in NY. Shipped yesterday and is scheduled to arrive Friday and tracking seems to be just a hair behind. Shipping fee the seller charged seemed very fair and reasonable. I'm not doubting anyone's account and I won't sleep properly until delivery but I've been lucky I guess.

No problems on my end, if anything stuff that I’ve ordered lately has arrived faster than expected. For shipping cost, do a little searching. There are ways to get reduced rates on UPS. If you use PayPal and sell something, you can ship through them (rates are considerably less). I also just signed up for a website called Shippo, where you can print labels on your own printer and get discounted rates for FedEx, USPS, and UPS. Alll of the above assumes that you are capable of doing your own packing.

Not being contentious but interested in the fee break-down on this one. IIRC, my last shipment was $100 & change from Norfolk VA > Indiana but that was my packing and processed at the local UPS terminal near my office.

This post is useless without pics.

Understand, not taken as contentious at all.

It was packed and shipped by Lull and picked up by UPS. I imagine there’s some handling charges in there as they pack instruments very well. Their bubble-wrap bill has to be enormous…:roflmao::roflmao:.

That really sucks what you’re going through. Sweetwater allows me to Fed Ex as my shipper due to UPS dropping off shenanigans at my location. Not that Fed Ex are angels, but I can ship to nearest FE Office location FOC for my pickup. UPS will do so to theirs, but they charge $10 each time.

LOL, here ya go. I’ve posted this as a NBD and in the Mike Lull Official thread, but always happy to show off a new bass!

Thanx and Merry Christmas!
