I auditioned for a praise and worship band last weekend. I was told by the worship leader that i was the the best one to audition. But that my bass was ungodly.I auditioned with my epiphone thunderbird because it is my best bass. The worship leader told me it was "the most ungodly bass" he had even seen and cant have me playing that in front of the everyone. He asked if I had any other basses and I said I have a Ibanez GSR200, Squire p bass and a Samick Greg Bennett (jazz copy).
the pastors says" Im sorry those basses are not acceptable. for being such a good player I thought you would have much better basses than those. Im sorry but I'm going to have to find another bassist.

Ok so since when are basses ungodly? Why do people think that having nice basses means your a good player. Im a firm believer you dont have to have high end basses to have good tone?

i would not even play for them then, sounds like they prefer religion and image over being real, and if they expect a certain bass, they need to buy it and have it at the church at all times for bass players to play.

seriously!!!! this irks me!!!! I am a strong christian, but sometimes they are my least favorite people to be around!!!!

You should have asked him what kind of bass he thought was a good one and then come back with his suggested bass. With a giant dildo glued to the headstock!

Yep , your musicians either have the anointing or they don't , the type of bass they play does not matter ( Unless it sounds like garbage) You should choose your musicians by 2 things their talent and their character, and even if they are not the best bass player maybe you can build them up and help shape them, to be good musicians in the future, worship is an act of the heart ,not a music style, genere or dependent on the type of instrument you play. I am sorry ,but they have the wrong motives.
