I'm thinking about one of these too. I really liked the Chameleon I had... but wished it had a stomp switch to turn off when I didn't want the cab voicing on my board. And since you really want the cab simulator last in the chain (at least I think you do) I wished the Chameleon had a DI out. Fast forward to today and this thing is available. with a DI and foot switch. I really want to try one of these but I just purchased a new Darkglass VMTD... and have a Pike Vulcan XL I recently purchased to try out. Alas I might have to break down. Anybody have one yet with firsthand feedback?

From the gut shot to the product manual, I am quite impressed.

Can you share any info about the production of this pedal, I mean, this does not look like it was a one-off from your basement in Santiago, Chile ;-)

That's a pretty neat question!! I love talking engineering..
When you want to make a high quality product most time is spent on the design phase..you have to consider every detail and think far beyond just the circuit. I spent months working on cad sofware, pcb software, design software, looking for suppliers, tried to learn silkscreening, prototyping, testing, etc. Once you have the circuit right (the easy part) you have to ensure fabrication feasability, consistency, reliability, esthetics and so on..
So for this initial batch of 50 units, i got the pcbs made in hong kong from a very good pcb manufacturer, then i assemble the pots, jacks, led, xlr and switch by hand..i personally drilled and painted the enclosures which is extenuating..
Then i put all together and test each one before putting them in the box..
I'm very proud of the results..im currently working on a more proffessional carboard box..the current one just works, but is not consistent with the quality inside.
Every penny made from this batch goes to reinvestment. I want to make a bigger batch, which is more expensive since i'll have to subcontract enclosure drilling and painting, but still i will be putting them together and testing each one..
In short, everything except the pcb is made at my workshop at home..

Just listened to the video demo and video review that are on YT and I'm really tempted. I've got a Tech21 VT Bass and an original early 90s SansAmp for guitar that are working well for me but this is still tempting due to being able to split the signal; dry into the recorder and wet into the monitors. I prefer the guitar demos I heard more than the bass, to be honest, but I'm still very tempted. I have a feeling this may end up being as desirable as the original SanSamp; two different boxes to be sure, although there is a bit of overlap. Yeah, for guitar players in particular, this could be destined for "classic" status in the future. Might want to get one now.

Yes.. i really hope it becomes as desirable as the Sansamp :) .. the need behind the design is beyond just the "sound" of it, it was useability, practicality, versatility..in fact on all my designs (which are not yet public) there´s a lot of though put on the situations and actual needs of musicians (starting from my point of view, but also i check with all the professional musicians i have the luck of being friend of).. that´s what i think it has in common with the sans amp and Andrew Barta´s design process.. Making a typical stomp pedal is not really hard, there are thousands of pedal companies and 90% of them offers the same stuff or variations of the same stuff. there is market for them? yes, most of the market wants the same stuff for less money (everyone wants a TS9 or a fuzz face..) ..i aim for the visionaries, the experimenters, the ones that wants and expect MORE than a modded clone..that´s why my motto is "think different, sound different".

i want my users to find their own voice, i hated being stuck with "4x12, 2x12, etc" presets, i like 2x12 vintage punchy bass, but i also like the modern 4x12 high end crunch, why not have both?? The first OCS user here in chile is a professional, touring bass player, one of the best feelings i´ve had is seeing his face when he connected his 1X15 extended range bass amp being transformed into a huge sounding 8x10, but with more mids ..he was so impressed, almost shocked..i thought, "well...maybe i have something really good here"

yeah, but all my pro friends are at namm these days..and i really suck at bass.. i hope the first users (which i will refer as DSM deamons) would be nice enough to upload some short reviews or their impressions..

i KNEW if i searched TB long enough i'd find a great cab sim product.

so here's my sitch:

all my basses have onboard preamps: J-Retro, Aguilar OBP2, Aguilar OBP3 and LBAGGS.

my current amp is a Yamaha DSR-115 powered monitor (1300 watts) . Sometimes i'll use a GT-100 for the cabinet sims - GT-100 preamp setting is either custom/off, natural, full range...
i like the way my onboard preamps sound, but a DECENT cab sim would be great. While the GT-100 is pretty good, i think this pedal can do a lot better.

this pedal looks great.

thoughts. opinions? oh, i do NOT use any kind of overdrive. clean for me.

how do i buy one... NOW?!?!?!
