NPD Southampton Ictineo

Ictineo is good, but it doesn't have a DI and all that jazz

Yeah, I'm actually debating whether I need a full-on preamp with DI option, or a good tone shaping pedal to go into a radial DI box. I'm really liking the tone I get from my diamond compressor into my v1 fifth gear, but would like a bit more tone shaping capabilities, especially with the mid range.

I mean, if you've already got the DI then Ictineo is the way to go. The controls aren't the most intuitive, but I usually dislike preamps and the Ictineo gives me such an amazing toan.

So it seems all the pics or recommendations I have seen are of Ictineos with P basses. Does the Ictineo provide equal "magic" for J basses also? Is anyone using this with a J ?
Any bass will improve with the Ictineo, I have recorded with a wide range of basses so far and all got the thumbs up from me, a picky studio engineer and even pickier artist.
Carvin LB50 humbuckers
Carvin LB50 EMG HB active
Squire Vintage Mod Fretless stock Duncan Design
Peavey Dyna Five Super Ferrites
Peavey Foundation FL Super Ferrites
Peavey Verdine White Bartolini Wide Aperature Humbuckers
Gibson G3 stock pickups
Franken PJ with crusty old vintage Fender pickups.
Franken JJ one with some old crusties and another with EMG
StinkRay has a passive Bart in the sweet spot
Harmony H22 dearmond foil with flats
And the studio bass a Modulus Jazz with Barts, PentaBuzz with Barts and a sweet old Precision.

Soon.

I'm still waiting for the next available batch. But I'm getting chuffed to run two different Gibson Rippers a Peavey T-20 and T-40 plus a few other non-Fender basses I own through it into a custom Broughton preamp I have.

That should keep me busy for awhile messing with settings.
