Obscure 70s Rock Bands

Ah, some great memories. Not all that obscure.

West, Bruce & Laing was short lived, but pretty famous in some circles.

Local radio plays Head East's hit all the time.

My old band did "On the Run" by Lake.

I have the CD of the first Captain Beyond album. Features original members of Deep Purple and Iron Butterfly.

I saw Cain at an armory dance. If you remember them, you'll probably remember Twin Cities bands The Litter and White Lightning.

well, obscure is really a matter of point of view.
some famous groups from other country may sound obscure, but are extremely famous "somewhere"

There was a band that was sort of affiliated with Todd Rundgren in some capacity called American Dream and I think one of the "hits" they had was $25 car

I preferred their Play Loud album, nice to see a band thatprovides listening instructions! They were VERY good.

Kindred Spirit

The lead guitarist from this two hit wonder band ended up in a band with me for seven years and we also recorded in the 1970s. Needless to say, none of us ever became famous.

Two of my favorites from the 70s that greatly influence me are Gong and Ash Ra Tempel. Sadly Daevid Allen left us recently.
