Totally agree about Angel. That was the band that popped in my mind when I read the topic. White Hot was a great album.

I was working in a grocery store around '80, and this guy walks past me with a respiratory tech name badge that says Gary Chappell, and he looks like the guy on the album cover, he's with his wife/girlfriend, whatever...I stop stocking shelves , and say "excuse me, Crack the Sky?" She rolls her eyes and says, "Oh God..." but he was very nice, we spoke of the band and John Palumbo, etc., all the time this woman acted as if she was getting root canal done. Sorry to bum her day, but we had fun talking, always liked his music.

This may be offtrack, but does anyone know of a Spanish band called Los Petersellers? Some of the tightest musicians I've ever heard. I want to speak Spanish (even with that stupid lisp) just to understand their songs.
I saw Crack the Sky open for Supertramp at the Fox theater in Atlanta. Just blew my doors off. Hard to find their records. A few years later, I caught them at a bar in College Park, Md. Amazing players.
Rolling Stone tapped their debut album as "best new band" 1977. Live Sky album was a great listen.
Mother's Finest was another Atlanta staple that never seemed to take off. Great party band!

Always heard of Gong, never heard any of their stuff, but that "Witches Song" sounds like a Yoko Ono abortion with competent musicians.
The Cate Brothers are slightly obscure and managed to have a top 40 hit in 1975.

Obscure? Larry Taylor's bass rocked the house down! Wavy Gravy (happy 80th birthday!) said, this must be heaven, man! I still get inspiration from Canned Heat and IMO Hawkwind was ground breaking .... Still recall listening to Hawkwind for the first time and it doesn't feel like that long ago.
