Octave Pedal with Top Jacks???

Just so you know, the MB octaver is 3" wide...not the same as a typical pedal. Also, the OC2 is a fairly complicated circuit that even JohnK said it wouldn't be worth it to build for someone else and suggested others to just buy a used one (I think his issue was the time and cost of parts involved). But disregard that if you just enjoy a good project, I guess. As in your OP, the Aguilar is 2.75" wide, easier to come by, and a great octaver...why the cold shoulder? Just go for it

Yeah, the OC-2 is a monster of a circuit to build... with some hard to find ICs... I have found a single octave version that is a bit less complicated, but I probably will settle on the Aguilar (no qualms, just like to to explore options).

Aguilar Octamizer. Great tracking, analog. Sorry the name isn't ' super catchy or hip' but works great!

I have rehoused a OC2 because I needed top mount jacks too. I also added a boost to the output so that I could bring up the volume when I solo just the -1 octave. Liked it a lot before but love it now

The best sounding analog octaver (IMO) that is in a narrow form factor with top mounted jacks is the Aguilar Octamizer.

I absolutely love my Subterranea but it's a different beast for me. I use it as part of a synth chain and use a separate octaver (currently an OC-2 or a Pearl) for my actual octaver needs.

Maybe you just don't like ovtave pedals. I used to want one pretty bad, but after trying a bunch of them I figured out I just like the idea of them.

I've always wondered what would happen if Sonic Research would use/license its Turbo Tuner note recognition for an octaver.


The Octaver I want is hidden inside the Red Witch Factotum, which doesn't have top mounts, but bloody well should given the size/width of the chrome box it's in. You also get some dirt, so that's sort of a bonus. How it tracks? Haven't tried one, but the clips/reviews seem promising for an all analogue design.

In response to this and the OP: T-Rex Octavius and T-Rex Quint Machine both track beautifully, sound very natural, and have top-mount jacks. They're not as common as some of the others mentioned, but are IMO hugely underrated.

yeah same here on the checking out their site. They some pretty crazy custom builds. I am going to keep an eye out for one of those T-65. They look pretty cool.

I loved the octave stuff on the H9 though. Most of it is octave up.

Disagree, there is a noticeable lag between the moment you hear the clean tone and when the sub octave tone comes in.
