OD that doesn't rob bottom end

If you just want to retain low end, get the grizzly overdrive. It's bonkers heavy in bass.
you what an ampeg.. the super 300.. you want a great bass overdrive.. MBD-2.. you want an excellent bass overdrive.. Free the Tone.. you want distortion.. Providence stampede distortion.. you want fuzz.. boss hyper fuzz.. 1973 muff-sanford and sonny blue beard.. a russian muff- W&C tall font.. brass master- Hiero effects BEAD fuzz.
It does some math with 56 bit numbers, but its converters are 24 bit. The dynamic range spec (108 dB) means that it's effectively using 18 of those 24 bits. That's not what will clue you in that its digital though - it's the slight latency that eventually bothered me enough to take it off the board. The overdrive models that I liked most also needed gobs of make up eq to retrieve the lost low end, which made it a pain to work with. It was close, but not quite there for my use.
My solution with ANY effect is to run a clean sound in parallel. All effects will rob bottom end from your signal chain. So I bi-amp, and keep the lows solidly underneath whatever effect I'm using.
How you set up yours. Mine take a little of the bottom. Sounds good but still struggling.

Hey guys/gals... here's my situation:
I have been running my Tech 21 VT Deluxe preamp in front of my Mesa Subway D-800. I regularly run that amp through a Subway 112 and 115, combined. I have tried many different settings and applications to avoid my limit light illuminating and nothing seems to work. The indicator light is flashing more often than I would like and I don't want to risk damaging the amp and/or drivers.
So, I was wondering if anyone could suggest an OD pedal that adds some SVT-like grind. I understand that nobody will achieve a true SVT tone unless they'reusing an SVT. Just something that respectfully represents that type of tone.
I am sure there will be innumerable responses/suggestions and that's ok.
In closing... are there OD pedals available that wouldn't slam the front end of my amp as hard as the VT Bass Deluxe?

This is a classic problem ... the reason is most fuzz / distortion / overdrive boosts mids and reduces bass.
There are a few solutions ...
You can use a 2 pickup bass and run each pickup to a different amp, the neck pickup goes clean and bassy and the bridge pickup goes dirty and overdriven. Ric-o-sound and Geddy Lee use this solution.
Run a powered sub from you bass amp
Run your pedalboard parallel instead of serial. Most people run one signal thru the effects. But if you split the signal and run it into 3 or 4 paths and then recombine them then you can mix clean and distorted signals and get the best of both worlds.
Or, go with one that is actually designed properly for bass, or has a blend knob, or better yet both. Much simpler.
Or accept that it will suck out some low end, and run an EQ at the end of your chain and boost the low end back. There's something in principle wrong with this, but I've heard it done and it actually sounds fine, which surprised me. Still somehow seems inelegant.

Very versatile and if anything it adds low end
I usually set the Contour and Presence like this. Note that the Volume is usually at around 2pm (a little passed unit). This works with my particular setup (Using a Fender P and Ampeg SVT) What are you using?

I may not be up to date on what's hip, but I still say Barbershop, for having a flavour I like.
I was waiting for someone to bring this up! Chris Squire used to split his signal between a bass amp and a Marshall slant single stack. He got plenty of crunch from the Marshall and bottom end from the bass amp. Then he left it to the sound engineers to blend as he supervised the final signal. Same as when he played live.
ODs don't steal lows as much as they bring in massive amounts of mids.
As a results lows can appear weak. A blend is as said the best way to counterbalance this.
