Odd conversation with the wife today...

No women on the planet would allow this to happen unless she was secretly a Geddy, Squire or McCarthy want to be, to allow that to happen.

None of the above. She knows who Geddy is, only because I'm a diehard Rush fun since I was 7 years old. She just knew that I had been wanting a 4001 for a VERY long time and really is that supportive of my music. She knew I had the money to spend and that I wanted it badly, so she sent me back to get it. Really that simple.

She's a total keeper. This morning I was looking at a G&L L2000 on Sweetwater. She asked me if that was my next purchase. It was marked down to $1450 from $1899, and I was seriously considering it. She asked the reasons I wanted it and I gave them. She shrugged her shoulders and asked, "Is it a good deal?" I told her that I felt it was. She looked at me and said, "Then get it." So I did. LOL



I figure I will get her started. If she seems like she is enjoying it and we are doing well together with it, I will continue to do what I can for her. If she feels like at some point she will learn better from someone else, I will get her lessons. (Recently found out that her and I can get a 50% discount for Fender Play if we sign up for a year...so that might be an option we explore.)



THAT was my first wife. She never supported my music in any way and complained endlessly about me being away to rehearse or for gigs. If I wanted to practice at home she would huff and sigh the entire time, coming into where I was practicing and acting like I was disturbing her. That marriage was a total joke and was pretty much dead at that point in time, anyway. The papers were filed the same year I started with that band.

Because she's planning for the future. None of us live forever. She's 10-1/2 years younger than I am, and even if we are the same age, statistically speaking, men don't live as long as women do, so the likelihood of me outliving her isn't very high, so we have discussions like these so that she knows what my wishes are for my personal items.

Good for you having these talks now. My wife is 15 years younger than me. She and I have had similar conversations regarding our separate and combined collections. Please write everything down and sign it. If anything happened to my wife, the last thing I'm going to be able to remember is who gets her comic books.

As for teaching your wife to play bass... I'm staying out of it.

We had further conversation last night about her learning to play. I related to her that I had learned that we get a 50% discount for Fender Play due to us being hospital employees and that she could do that and learn and if she had questions or anything, I would be there to answer them. She thought this was a brilliant idea, so that is likely what we will do to get her started.

None taken. I'd wanted a Ric for a LONG time, and the 4003 necks were terrible to me, so my only option was a 4001. Rics are super rare in the area I live, so finding one at all is difficult at best. I was willing to pay the money to get a very nice 4001, but I couldn't find one. When I did, she didn't want me to miss my chance, so I got a fantastic 1974 for what I felt was a totally fair price to me. It also had the original case, which just happened to have an almost brand new Shure SM58 in it, too...which the pawn shop said they didn't know was there, so it was part of the deal.
